15th stamp woot! Before you fucks ask why I didn't go all apeshit seizure on you, that's because I couldn't be assed to right now, now to the subject.
Seriously, it's been years, months, even fucking decades. I know these events are fucking tragic but seriously, these events are old now, and I think it's time to go back to shit now and yes, you may be traumatized but guess what? I've been through shit too and do I give a shit? No, instead, I pick up the track and go back to what we were doing and some shit like that.
And I made this stamp because people complain about traumatic events yet they don't give a shit about what shit the Indians have been through.

Well, I doubt the Rwandans and Sierra Leone..ers? (Leoners? Leonians? Leones?) and Congolese would "suck it up" and forget about it... the shit they had and are still going through, what with the mercenaries and blood diamonds and just fucking..war lords and UGH! It's some violent, crazy shit. The pain and fear and terror is still fresh in their minds and it just starts back up again every decade, so I doubt they'll ever get over it.Β

ok, so you are telling me that a plane demolished a building? for some strange reason that's hard to believe.
you know that fire will not even effect steal until it's 3000+ degrees in an enclosed area, last time I checked the buildings where is an open area, and there was a lot of smoke so that means the fie as not that hot, the steal should have been standing but it wasn't.
and if it was a terrorist attack, why where they getting the president to a safe place? he was just sitting there in a classroom.
oh, and one more thing.
what happened to Building seven?

Planes are filled with explosive fuel.
Explosions heat things more than fire.
And it's spelled "steel".
Building Seven is a conspiracy theory.

The steel did not melt, it was weakened however. The combo of weak steel in an already damaged section below a lot of weight from up top allowed it to collapse.

an explosion WOULDN'T melt steel, that's just idiotic.
like I said, it had to be over 3000 degrees in a closed area.
maybe you shouldn't believe everything you see on the news and stop arguing with a person who really studies this.
look up controlled demolition on youtube and compare it with 9/11, you'll see very many similarities.

Gasoline in the plane + flammable materials in the building + plane's force slamming into the building and damaging steel frames + buildings being built with lower standards than now = towers fall everyone dies
And controlled demolition creates explosions that damage steel, soooo

You're the worse type of human being! How could you just brush off things like Newtown and September 11th, and the Holocaust, and Slavery, and Pearl Harbor, and the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, and Hurricane Katrina and all these other tragic events that ruined people's lives by saying: Get over it? That's horrible!
"and yes, you may be traumatized but guess what? I've been through shit too and do I give a shit? No, instead, I pick up the track and go back to what we were doing and some shit like that."
I understand that its important to move on, but this is not about you! Until you can feel the pain of all those people, and "walk a mile in the shoes" of the people that have lost family members, homes, memories, livelihoods, and some things that even you might not be able to relate to, then you have absolutely no right to tell someone else to "get over it!" Honestly! That's just selfish and insensitive!
*sigh* I sometimes hate DA stamps because then I sometimes see the ugly side of humanity...

And yet you probably don't care about Hiroshima, Nagasaki, the countless massacres of Native Americans, the various civil wars in third-world nations, the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, the school shootings that happen all the time now, etc.
9/11 was 12 years ago. By feeling terror every year over it, you're letting the terrorists win. Their goal is to spread terror.
π: 0 β©: 1
BlissClouds In reply to binarystep [2013-09-14 03:45:15 +0000 UTC]
9/11 was 12 years ago, and everything you're talking about happened about 40+ years ago. So if you lost a family member, is it unnatural to still feel angry? Or sad? 9/11 is commemorated every year to show respect for the innocent people who died, and the first-responders who gave their lives. If we didn't acknowledge what happened, then not only would that have been disrespectful and reached beyond an all new low of humanity, Β the terrorist attacks probably would've continued. If we had not felt terror and the need to protect ourselves, then we probably would've been attacked again within the last 12 years, hit with something worse than 9/11 probably. But we haven't. And the biggest offender who caused the attacks in the first place is dead.Β
Remembering 9/11 and feeling melancholic over it is not a crime. It's part of being human. So is being afraid of such a calamity happening again. But those feelings are all necessary in order to move forward. I don't expect anyone who lost their mother, father, or any other friend or family member to ever forget. And they never should forget.Β
As time progresses, the tragedies that happened in the past will be brushed off by newer generations. But that generation will have something relevant to their time to worry about. Things that happened in the past will eventually get less and less attention as time moves on, and I suppose that's only fair in order to deal with the problems plaguing society today.
The school shootings going on are a huge issue. The shooters WANT us to be scared. Does that mean we should pretend not to be and go on acting like a shooting can't happen in ANY school at ANY time to any person? No. It's because of our fear that we're doing things like pushing for stricter gun-control laws, and trying to put bullet-proof glass in school buildings and teach evacuations and things like that. Fear is not always a bad thing.
Learning of things like slavery, the Holocaust, the treatment of Native Americans back then AND now, makes me sick. In fact, I find it insulting that you would even think to say that "I don't care" about them, because I do. I don't think that those kinds of incidents should ever stop being talked about, and I don't think anyone will ever truly "get over it." So that's a horrible thing to say. But a lot of the problems in the past have been/are being dealt with, and we can't dwell over them as much if we want to deal with the problems affecting us in the here and now. So for the sake of history not repeating itself, I say it's stupid to just "Get over it."

What I think is that, rather than focusing on something from twelve years ago, we should focus on the PRESENT.
Maybe help other countries with a lack of food. Maybe even help the poor RIGHT HERE in the United States!
Maybe we should try to avoid a war with Syria!
Maybe we should help the victims of RECENT tragedies!
It was awful that so many people died in 9/11! It's sad when anyone dies!
But there are worse tragedies now that no one cares about because they affect some small African nation rather than America!
π: 0 β©: 1
BlissClouds In reply to binarystep [2013-09-15 16:40:49 +0000 UTC]
Then why were you previously bringing up events in the past if your point is that we shouldn't care about them in the first place?
We're doing that. Among other things. But if it was an issue that could be fixed at the drop of a hat, we would've fixed it by now.Β
We're trying to do that. Among other things. After the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, America is seriously considering letting those people fend for themselves. The only reason we're thinking about going in there is because we want to help the citizens who are being tortured by their ruler. On the negative, that'll cause conflict with the syrians. But on the positive, we'll be helping out a nation that needs our help.Β
Wouldn't you say that the people being tortured by their dictator in syria is a RECENT tragedy?Β
That isn't true. America's trying to help everyone. Ourselves, and other nations that need help. That's a good thing, because God forbid we get in trouble, we have a "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" relationship with the nations we helped. Besides, if you have the opportunity to do so, you SHOULD try to aid as many people as you can. That's why we have things like "Homes for Humanity", "Operation Smile" and the missionaries and such. We're supposed to help others out.
And I'm not sure what worse tragedy America has had than Syria. I mean, Obama isn't trying to kill us. We don't have an antipathetic ruler. Because if America had a more dire situation than that, then we would make solving that our biggest priority! At least, I think so anyway.

I see a lot of protection over Europeans and Americans, but not much over Asians, Africans, Middle-Easterns, etc. They lose far more people every day than Europeans and Americans do, yet you throw their news out the window. 33 people died in a shooting in the Middle East? Oh no, the 3 people who died in America from the Boston Bombings was WAY more important!
With that ridiculousity in the mix, "Get over it" is an argument to put us back as equals.
π: 0 β©: 1
BlissClouds In reply to AquosBoost [2013-08-06 21:13:41 +0000 UTC]
What I don't understand is why other countries expect America to broadcast their news, Like America doesn't have problems of its own. While it is true that all those other countries are undergoing unrest, America can't possible be putting it all out there. People say this country gets in other people's business quite enough, so I think everyone should just make up their mind. Same goes for all of those other countries. Generally, you're supposed to fix the problems of your own before you can fix anyone else's.Β
And who is doing this "protecting?" When you say you see a lot of protection over Europeans and Americans, just what does that even mean? Those places are broadcasting their own problems, and actually, I've never seen a news broadcast on anything that happened in any place other than America, but then again, I rarely watch the news. I think the only thing I saw had to be the whole fiasco with a cruise ship in Italy, and then they broadcasted the earthquake in Haiti and Japan, etc.Β
The Middle East also has its own problems that right now no other country can solve. They don't want America or any other country for that matter interfering with their own problems, and yet you want those places to broadcast their news? What are we going to do about those 33 people that were shot? They don't want us in their country, we can't help them! I know that there are people who are sympathetic to the things happening in the Middle East, but horrific things happen all over the world everyday and there will never be enough time to cover it. ((And eventually people will turn a blind eye to the depressing atmosphere news like that every day would bring.))Β
Also, the bombing was something that happened in American territory, so by nature, the people will be more sympathetic to something that close to home. It really WAS important to a lot of people, because terrorism is a problem here, and if America had just swept something like that under the rug in favor of telling the people about some other atrocity that happened in some other part of the world whose affairs we're not involved in whatsoever, that would be problematic to say the least.Β
I disagree. According to this logic, you shouldn't even care who gets more "protection" or what happened in what country. You should just turn a blind eye and "get over it." And that's simply too cruel.Β

I don't understand how that makes sense. You can't befriend black people because a black boy was the victim of a hate crime from a Mexican, and you're mad because the mexicans were ignored for killing a black boy?Β
I don't see the logic in that.
((and btw, If you choose not to befriend another race because of a matter so stupid and trivial that you had absolutely nothing to do with, then the only one missing out is you. It's not just the African American race, but narrow-minded people like you miss out on experiencing the awesomeness of having a wealth of diverse friends in any race. Ah. I see. Well, I'm sorry to say, but things like that happen all of the time. Everyday. Every single hate crime that ever happens could never get the kind of constant attention a problem like this needs because there's just too many. And the world wants to pretend that racism doesn't exist, so hate crimes don't get much attention regardless.
Pfft. Racism won't end until everyone is the same skin color. >.> That's how I really feel. But I'm also with you in wishing it would just end. It's 2013, and we all know that the world is a melting pot and we need to coexist. Bigotry in this day and age is pointless and worthless!

They're not being insensitive, they're pointing ou that people need to calm down about things that happened ages ago and focus on the things, some preventable, that are happening now. Learn from past events, but don't dwell on them. Educate the young about them, but only if the purpose of that education is to help prevent history from repeating itself.
It's not heartless to get over horrible things that have happened in the past. But it is useless to dwell on such things while similar things are going on around us and do nothing but cry over spilled milk.

Seriously, you sound butthurt when you say stuff like that! "baww u have nu heart!".
But seriously, what the stamp means is that people should move on from it, targeting the ones that won't shut up about it. There are many things that has happened just as bad as these events, but people don't take any notice of them. What about the floods here in Australia? Many people died, I never saw anyone say "pray for Australia!". We were ignored! Yet something that happened in the past still gets sympathy, when new things happening are ignored.Β
The point is, you may say what happened was sad, but don't ignore the other sad things happening right now.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
BlissClouds In reply to Little-rolling-bean [2013-07-12 18:24:30 +0000 UTC]
I don't care if I sound butthurt or not. The truth is the truth. If you don't have the decency or maturity to at least act like you care, then something is seriously wrong with you.
And I don't think that's what the stamp is saying at all. To me, it sounds like this person is saying:
"Old tragedies? Get over it."
"New tragedies? Get over it."
"Australia was hit by floods? Get over it."
"Innocent people are being bombed to death in the Middle East? Get over it."
"There are genocides going on in Africa as we speak? Get over it."
"The Twin Towers fell and murdered hundreds of people?" Get over it."
"Japan was hit with a 9.0 Earthquake that killed 10,000 people? Get over it."
"A maniac ran into a school building and killed 20 6-7 year olds and 6 of their teachers? Get over it."
That is what this stamp is saying. And if you ask me, this person who made the stamp is the most butthurt of anyone. Saying: "Oh, I bEen THru shTUff TeW ANd I'M stIlL hEEr!" Is insensitive and won't get you sumpathy from anyone. And if this stamp protrays your view of how you feel about others who had to suffer through those things, then why on Earth should anyone sympathize with you? Or even care?
"Don't ignore the sad things happening right now."
This guy brought up the tragedy that happened with the Native Americans, which is not at all current. But the Native Americans haven't gotten over it. And people do care. Its just that the Native Americans are so small in number that it seems as though they've just given up trying...
"But seriously, what the stamp means is that people should move on from it, targeting the ones that won't shut up about it."
The people who won't shut up about it are the ones who were effected most by it. There are still Holocaust survivors who will tell their children and their children's children about the hell they went through until the day they die. And the Holocaust was serious. So I don't think anyone should shut up about it.
I mean, how are you going to tell one of those Sandy Hook parents to "Get over it?" They say that there is no greater pain than losing a child. I don't think they will ever get over it. They may move on, but they'll never forget the tragedy that took away their own flesh and blood.
Also, I'm sorry for all the losses in Australia. Its not that people are getting ignored, it's just that the media is a heartless bitch at times, and there are just too many tragedies to be given attention. After all, there are genocides going in Africa right now, and I never hear anyone say: "Pray for Africa!!!" Nobody is helping them either.
And the same can be said about many things going on in the world. A lot of people don't know what sad things are happening right now because of that reason. You can't ignore something you know nothing about.
Regardless, I hope your country has a speedy recovery C:
