Description
I have a few concepts for characters from Mayu's past, and one of them is her old man of course, Ken.

Here is the rough backstory I wrote for him alongside Mayu's:

As a young man he learned the craft of the merchants and accompanied a traveling business alongside many adventurers. Ken also served in the army for a time but he later used his wealth to avoid further conscription. His wife unfortunately passed away due to childbirth complications, but Ken promised her that he would keep their only child safe and happy. He and his new daughter Mayu traveled around the countryside but, as age started to catch up with him, he eventually settled down with a permanent shop and continued to raise his daughter in a peaceful town.
Ken wanted to teach Mayu the importance of coin and organization, as well as using her words for persuasion- skills that he hoped would make her ready to take over the business one day. Being a merchant wasn’t glorious, nor was it as honorable like being one of the warrior nobility, but it certainly kept food on the table for Ken and his family.
For Mayu’s 17th birthday, he surprised her with a paid vacation to the imperial capital after saving enough money. This included a caravan for a nice and comfortable journey. Ken would leave the shop in the hands of his other employees but unfortunately he and Mayu would never come back.
