Millet and Gavin are two friends from Mayu's past. Not originally from her town, they were more or less adventurers before settling down and became close friends with Ken and his daughter. I'm considering the possibility that they may reunite with ghost Mayu either as humans or undead monsters too.

"Millet":
Once a drifter and hunter who made money selling meat and furs, as well as the occasional mercenary work. She was an illegitimate daughter of a noble family, and she had proper training with arms and time spent in noble court before she chose to go off into the wilderness. Most people she met never knew her real name or family and it was likely that her father preferred she remained an unknown outcast.
A well known friendship she had was with an orphan named Gavin, whom she found abandoned in a ransacked village and unofficially adopted him as a surrogate son. She would be his guardian and mentor until he was old enough to go off on his own.
Millet’s time in the wilderness has made her an experienced survivalist but even then her line of work didn’t always bring in enough coin nor food. She and Gavin later befriended both Ken and his daughter Mayu, and Millet even agreed to be a part-time guard for Ken’s store when she settled in their town while also looking after Gavin.

Gavin:

An orphan that Millet adopted after finding him alone in an abandoned village. She was overprotective of Gavin during their first few years together but she eventually gave him responsibilities like maintaining her equipment, that way he could carry his share of the weight during their adventures.

He fancied himself as her squire of sorts, and was always eager to learn what he could from Millet despite not always being up to the task.

When Gavin and Millet settled in Mayu’s town, he developed a crush on her. He tried to impress Mayu with awkward gestures of kindness and also exaggerated tales of his travels with Millet, but Millet would always expose the truth about what really happened in their journeys to tease him.
