Description The clouded leopard takes a break after lunch.

The film I got this picture printed on is textured, and my scanner apparently doesn't like textured paper. Some of the detail has been lost. This picture looks better and more 'clean' in actuality.

Thank you. Would you believe me if I told you that it's actually two different clouded leopards in my pictures? I actually usually stay away from this clouded leopard for photos because of the bars in the background. Not very photogenic. But during my last visit to the zoo, the other leopard's enclosure was under construction, so I had to visit this guy instead.

Thank you. My scanner has been pretty nice to me over the years. It was just this last time that it ate my pictures. It was probably just that it didn't like the special textured paper my pictures had been printed on. Oh well.

Thank you. It was one of the first shots I took with my new 300mm lens. It felt good that he was so far away but I could still get so close.

it's a pity your scanner doesn't accept this type of paper but the head and colouring says it all, great shot, I don't know if you have visited them a few times or if the cats in your gallery are from the same shoot but if you visit again then try and compose so chain link/mesh/general barriers arn't between you and the subject or behind as it emphisizes captivity, I know that finding a chance or time to find a wild cat actually in the wild is very slim due to poaching and game but catching chainlink in the background ruins the image and the pride of the animals.

I say this as I have an image of an Owl in my gallery and it to me is one of the best photo's I have took but a mistake in apature size made the mesh showup slightly between the lens and the bird destroying it's character.

this isn't a crit against you but just a bit of help in a non helpfull site...

Thanks for the comment/critique. I generally try to keep signs of captivity as much out of my photos as possible, but occasionally, they do happen. I agree with you 100% on your points. I normally try to stay away from this particular clouded leopard's enclosure because of the fact that the fence is there, but the other leopard was gone when I visited last time while its enclosure was being remodeled, so I really had no choice. And maneuverability, as you probably know, is always a problem when composing a shot in a zoo.

Unfortunately, of all of my zoo trips, I probably had the most difficulty with this one as far as getting a 'clean' shot without any chain link fences and the such.
