I've made this one in such a way that everybody can follow it, be it a beginner or an advanced Photoshop user.
I hope the steps are clear, and if not tell me, and I'll make some changes.

Awesome tutorial! This might come in handy... Btw...if you don't mind, may I ask, why use Layer masks? I mean, whats the advantage of using these over simply erasing the undesired parts with a soft eraser? And whats a clipping mask? hows it different from the regular layer masks?...cant I just change the blend mode and adjust opacity to get the same results? Sorry...I've been using Ps for a while but I'm kinda new to the concept of masks.

RohMah1 In reply to flitlog [2014-06-27 13:09:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

First off, the difference between eraser and layer masks. When you use the eraser tool, it's rather permanent. Let's say after sometime you want to get back the erased parts of a picture; it's not possible using an eraser.
However, if you take a layer mask, the black parts are hidden. If you want to get back the invisible parts, just paint over the layer mask with white!

You can find details about Clipping masks here : www.photoshopessentials.com/ba…

There are many different ways to get the same results in Ps, as long as you're happy with the result it doesn't matter.

Hope that helped a bit.
