It is a bit uncomfortable, but you can add some padding. I just hot glued a couple layers of felt to cover the wires and it wasn't an issue anymore.

If you keep the wires under the wig, can they be used to support more than just antlers?

I don't see why not. If you ever try this out, test it for yourself to get a feel on how loose and wobbly the wires can be. They'll hold up, but I had to make a second smaller antler set because the ones in the tutorial were tall and would flop back and forth when I moved my head. What exactly did you have in mind? (Sorry for the super late response.)

Nothing too bad, like if I wanted a large kind of hat to stay on without noticeable clips hanging out or devil horns of such.

My first faun I had real deer antlers on my head and they were so heavy.. xD Im doing the wire and tape antlers this time. If I glue them onto the felt.. is it really sturdy? Not that it will break somewhere through the day.....

With glue alone the antlers will fall forward and pull your wig off without fail. The wire head band is there to support them from falling and making you wigless, the glue is there to make sure they don't twist or wiggle out of place. Glue on felt won't be able to give them the support they need to stand up.
