Description So, time for some hood making.  For this part you'll need a pattern and some fabric; the pattern is a slightly modified version of the previous one I'd put online, it was modified to make the front a bit more game accurate.  In the picture I've marked the seams in different colours to make things a little easier to understand - you're basically matching the pink lines together to make the hood and the green lines to add the peek.  Let's get some pattern pieces cut and get underway!

Fabrics used:    Outer fabric - brown and black houndstooth polyester/wool blend suiting fabric
Lining - black poly/cotton lightweight fabric
Thread:             Brown and black poly/cotton
Machine:           Singer Heavy Duty, 80 weight standard needle

I've found that the best fabrics to use for hood making are those that drape well; look for suiting fabrics as a lot are machine washable or hand-wash, plus they tend to be a decent weight for their thickness.  For the lining I go for very thin cotton or poly/cotton blends, giving a good colour without adding extra weight.  Also, I'll be finishing the hood using bias bound edges, so if you wish to use a different method of edge finishing you'll need to adapt the pattern as necessary.

Any clarifications needed, please ask!

Hi there, sorry, been really busy lately. I'll have a look for the pattern piece at the weekend when I'm back home - I know I've got it somewhere but I just need to find it...

Appreciate the interest, I'll see what I can find for you

Hey man all of this is awesome. Do you have a print out of the template? I'm interested on making a hood myself. Keep up the awesome work!

Hi, thanks!  I'm working on making the pattern available to download, but at the moment I'm a bit tied up with work and other things (new house, new cats, project stuff...).  I'll try to get a scaled version of the pattern up at the weekend so at least it has the dimensions on it - if I can find the original pattern that is - hopefully that will help a little.

Thanks for the support and I'll do my best to get a downloadable version up as soon as I can
