Description
Various notes, collected and done over a few days, from different scraps of paper put into one sheet.Basically, observations of constructions guidelines, trying to work out how these characters work. These are my observations, and should NOT be taken as official notes for these characters.
Plus, a few extra notes for people watching this, to think about volumes, proportions, perspective when drawing. I didn't clean these sketches much, wanting to show most of the rough lines underneath to show structure.
Plus a little doodle added in the bottom left corner. How I would love to tell Iroh's story (if I knew what it was).
Col erase (blue and Tuscan red), plus HB pencils.
Except for Thutmoses up there on the right (mine!), all the other characters belong to Mike, Brian, Nickelodeon, Viacom. If I forgot someone, let me know and I'll add you up.

Wow, this is really helpful! I've been having trouble distinguishing my character's body types - they all look the same! - and I like the head-in-a-box idea for proportion.
Quick question - this has been bugging me - is the back of Sokka's head rounder or more rectangular? I've been having major issues drawing him in profile!

The box is more of a reminder to take perpective into account. But, if making a box hels you for certain angles, go ahead!

Haha, Sokka's head is rectangular. It's something I figured out myself, but not to that extend :]
This is actually pretty useful, it contains all kinds of nifty little details that, well, are useful.

Well, at least part of his story is known *cough--lost-his-son-to-war-and-gave-up-the-siege-on-Ba-Sing-Se-because-of-said-tragedy--cough*.

I like how you've pointed out the subtle face shapes. Thats one thing I need to work on, I seem to have a 'default' face shape that I keep drifting back to.
And Thutmoses is cute XD I do so love the overbitish style. Is he the one who found that talking numbat thing?

I tend to do that too. That's why it's good to sit down and try and figure out the small details sometimes.
Thutmoses' family was known to have a recognizable overbite. I just couldn't let that pass

Awesome job with all of them. I've never really thought about how Toph is in fact that much shorter but I guess her hair and the massive bun it must be in makes the illusion of adding more height. Love the helpful hints

I know what you mean! Even though I do start Sokka with a vague rectangle shape, I tend to draw it too long, making Sokka all wonky. Grah!!

Happens to me too. I tend to make him too rectangular or too round at any given time. But practice makes perfect...or at least better i suppose

Wow! You draw Toph with the same proportions as Tinkerbell! Well, not proportions, because Toph's legs are shorter, but Tink's also 4 1/2 heads tall.

A character's own head is always great to check their overall height. But I mean, even if not exatly that height and close enough, who's going to notice.
