Description
Various notes, collected and done over a few days, from different scraps of paper put into one sheet.Basically, observations of constructions guidelines, trying to work out how these characters work. These are my observations, and should NOT be taken as official notes for these characters.
Plus, a few extra notes for people watching this, to think about volumes, proportions, perspective when drawing. I didn't clean these sketches much, wanting to show most of the rough lines underneath to show structure.
Plus a little doodle added in the bottom left corner. How I would love to tell Iroh's story (if I knew what it was).
Col erase (blue and Tuscan red), plus HB pencils.
Except for Thutmoses up there on the right (mine!), all the other characters belong to Mike, Brian, Nickelodeon, Viacom. If I forgot someone, let me know and I'll add you up.

Wow. This is very helpful. Never thought about how many heads tall the characters were. Haha, your little notes crack me up. Is this how it is on a normal basis? Sokka thinks you draw him too rectangular.

Just wanted to compare two bald headed kids.
You start thinking "technical" the moment you start drawing your own characters over and over again, and want to make them look the same. It comes naturally after a while. Like you'd look at your drawing and think "no wait, his-her nose has to be much bigger". That's because you've already established past rules on how to draw him or her.

hmm yeah.. its just difficult to get eyes looking the same... i usually end up with one slightly bigger or more tilted than the other. Head shape gets me throwing my pencil down in annoyance as well..hehehe.

I have an awful time with making characters look exactly the same in height and all that. Something i should work on if i ever want to animate. x_x You draw these guys dead on though.

Not quite dead on- still some work to get there.
And yesh, you learn to pay attention to loads of details if you go down the path of animation, and have to learn to draw on model. Takes practice, you'll get there.

Plethera of Aangs in one place~! *happy squee* Clearly, I woke at this hour for this. Tis most excellent. The head shapes for each character is actually a really helpful thing to see done well; I'm always trying to fight with it. (Especially on Sokka. Long skinny face that boy has...)
Looks like your difficulties in drawing Aang are being overcome, anyway. :3 Congrats~~! And man, Iroh's backstory... I'd love to know that, too. n__n

Iroh as villain...you know, if they made it interesting, I wouldn't mind at all. When a story is well told, I'm willing to forgive a lot of things.
And if not a villain in the present, who knows what stuff he did in his past. Ooooooh, the possibilities.
