Full view will give you... *ahem* ...the full view!I did this drawing of Osaka as an anthro owl on the same day as I did the previously submitted anthro versions of main characters of Azumanga Daioh. There are many observations and ironies in depicting Osaka as an owl, but I'll leave it to you to find them.

Hee! Osaka really is suited for an owl... she looks so cute, too!
Owls are creatures of the night, and they sleep during the day. Osaka, whilst sleeping in the night, also sleeps in the day. ...She does seem more of a night person, anyway.
Owls prey on smaller animals such as shrews, which somehow reminds me of how Osaka was "preying" on the fact that Chiyo's an elementary school kid, hoping to beat her in a race.
Also, owls are often depict as wise and intelligent. Many people portray Osaka as a true genius, under all of her spacey attitudes.
Are those some of the ironies?

A lot of them actually, including at least one I hadn't thought of.
The biggest irony was the perception of owls as wise creatures (and the reality of owls not matching up too well) and the perception of Osaka as being ditzy (which she is, a bit, but she's also quite perceptive).
IMO, Osaka is far more likely to be labeled a genius as an adult than Chiyo is. Chiyo is a better student and a more organized person, but Osaka has an intellect far beyond normal (then again, so does Chiyo, especially for her age).

I think Osaka and Chiyo would make a great team. Chiyo may be extra-intelligent, but she may not have the imagination to create new things... Osaka, however, does have the imagination, but perhaps not the practicality. Put them together...
