I had the idea of drawing anthro versions of the six main characters of Azumanga Daioh as anthros. The main characteristics of Yomi are that she's heavy (or at least she thinks she is), she's quite agile, and she has a bad temper. Hence the thought of her as a bear.

Yomi as a bear... nice choice of chatacter-to-anthro XD

I like how you can sort of see where her hair would have been, tapering into the fure around the scruff. Her expression is amusing and in-character.

Actually, she reminds me of one of those big, grumpy characters who everyone fears, but really they're just lonely.

Thanks!

Now that I think about it, she should be less bad tempered, since there are no bears where there are hyenas and vice versa...

Big, grumpy characters... eveyone fears... really just lonely... Maybe this should have been Sakaki?

Ah, but remember their anthros, so they can live close to each other. Don't anthros live like humans, or a mixture of human and the animal they're representing?

XD I just realised that comment was more suited for Sakaki. It's the grumpy expression that reminded me of that. You probably just caught her in a bad mood; Yomi also has her sociable side.

True. Mixing fantasy and reality is dangerous business...

Yep, a bad mood indeed. I guess there might be a hyena around after all!

...Not to mention complicated at times. You'd have to wonder about many things... would they celebrate religeous ceremonies? Humans do, but animals don't use these concepts, and thus an "animal-human" wouldn't understand them if their minds are more like the animals'. Would they be more practical than academic, because of survival and such?

XD Oh no, watch out Yomi-Bear!

Hmm... religion among animals... maybe you should read the novel Watership Down. It's about a group of rabbits who follow a seer's advice and leave their warren. They eventually start another warren on Watership Down. The novel includes a fictional culture and mythology among the rabbits, with gods Frith (the sun), Prince Rainbow, and Inle (pronounced inlay; he's the moon), and demi-gods El-Ahrairah (or elil-hrair-rah, the king with countless enemies) and The Black Rabbit of Inle (who comes to claim rabbits that die, or are to die).

It would be interesting to see Yomi-Bear and Yogi Bear together...

Yomi as a bear! That's perfect! I like how you kept some elements of her human hair style in the anthro's fur around the head and neck! Nicely done!
