Description
The first sentence in dA's description of "fanart" is "Painting based on an existing work." Since this painting is done directly *on* an existing work, being the wonderful Mermaid Otakon 2006 by *chibi-jen-hen , I guess it belongs in the Fanart section.

Painted and effects done using ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3.

As it says in the picture, the copyright for the image belongs to *chibi-jen-hen , and I have her permission to use it. The colouring of this work, however, is mine. Do not steal this, because you really don't want to anger either of us, much less *both* of us.

Since submitting this, I tried something different with the original colouring and got this. I've posted what I first had up here in my scrapbook and put a link here: [link]

...actually, I cheated a little... I changed the background from the blue seen in the border to white, so it wouldn't have the "above the water" look that mentioned when she saw it.
