Description
I had long been advocating a custom-built Lincoln Town Car Landaulet based on a used limousine instead of the monstrously expensive Maybach 62 Landaulet that costs almost three times as much as the monstrously expensive Maybach 62 Limousine on which it is based.

However, today I thought of this bit of whimsy, a VW Golf Landaulet. This would be based on a 5-door Golf stretched in the middle, with the divider acting as a bulkhead for additional strength. The part of the roof behind the divider and between the rain gutters would then be cut away and that and the rear windshield would be replaced with a convertible top that stacks similarly to the one on the Golf Cabriolet.

Maybe Volkswagen can be convinced to build a thousand of these? They could be used as taxis in tropical and semi-tropical tourist areas like Florida and Barbados (and the north coast of Jamaica...), and celebrities might want them, or might want to be seen in them. Who knows? The mini-Landaulet just might be right for the times.
