Description
I have been inspired by a spirited conversation with ~typhlosionskingdom to draw this rare and unsung American car.I first read of the H-M (High-Mileage) Vehicles Freeway in one of a pile of old car magazines I was given in the mid-Eighties. That particular magazine was the December 1979 issue of Motor Trend and the subtitle read something like: "Why drive a carriage if you only need a horse?"
The Freeway (or FreeWay or Free-Way...
The car could carry a driver and a fair amount of groceries. A small person could fit under the hatch in a pinch (literally...
Production began in 1979 and ended in 1982, after about 700 had been built.

Sketch done with orange coloured pencil and then inked, erased, and scanned.
Lineart was refined by tracing the scanned sketch, altering the trace with Wite-Out, re-scanning the trace, and altering the rescan with MSPaint.
Colouring done with ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3.

No, it's not. The Dale [link] was a California scam from 1974-75 with only two mockups and one running two-seater prototype built. This, the H-M Vehicles Free-Way single-seater [link] was made in Minnesota and 700 were made before H-M Vehicles went bankrupt.

Personally, I think I'd prefer a Karo, but I'm amazed that a car like this would come from the US. Then again, it was built during the Second Gas Crisis, which gave many Americans an apocalyptic point of view, much as the Third Gas Crisis is doing now.
Thank you, sensei.

Aww, wow! What a cool car! I just love those three-wheeled cars, but I really like the design of this one. It's awful stream-lined, and the front kind of makes me think of a shark.
Great job!

Thank you.
You might want to take a look at some photos (some are at this site: [link] ) because... well, I got the back of the car somewhat wrong in this drawing.

You're welcome! Aww, well, it still looks neat, even if it's a little inaccurate...maybe it's a custom?

I don't think so. Even if the body panels had been taken off, the engine and swingarm should be visible there...
