Description
Jeremy and Aelita from Code Lyoko, dancing a slow dance.Chalk on black paper. Some manipulation done to fill in scanned areas that weren't on the paper and to get the size to a standard aspect ratio.
I'm no better than O.K. in this medium. I'd be even worse if ~Mewberries hadn't told me about a wonderful thing called a kneaded eraser.
Code Lyoko (c) Antefilms Ltd.
EDIT: I went back to the drawing, making Aelita's eyelashes considerably thinner (her eyes are supposed to be closed...). I then rescanned, re-proportioned, and filled in the blanks again.

Because that's how they are in the show, or at least how they were in Episode 26 - "False Start".

Thanks.
I decided to try it when I saw the cost of pastels. Too much for a dabbler. I bought coloured chalk instead.
Details in chalk are a major drag, though.

Yesterday I was watching Jackass: The Movie. And seeing Aelita's face reminded me of the make-up for the old people sequences... or maybe, with that face, she could date Yoda.
*notices it was done with chalk* That explains Aelita's face. Now I see... kinda hard doing that pic, for sure. Still, it conserves the element of J/A: their love for each other.

You're most welcome about the kneaded eraser. A small suggestion was the least I could for all the help you've given me, particularly with DA. So thank you, as well.
This is very cute! It kind of mirrors the "Yumi's Secret" piece, which was one of my favorites. ^_^ I was listening to LyokoCode's FuturRadio recently and I think I might have found the perfect French song that would fit to this...now if only I could figure out what the title was...although I guess I could pick from the chorus lines. XD In any case, very sweet picture, SamBlob!

It's just about the same pose as "Yumi's Other Secret" but there's none of the sorrow, doubt or need for reassurance from that situation here. All here is warmth and bliss.
I was trying to put a smile on Aelita's face but that's difficult with chalk on any scale that will fit in my scanner...
Interesting that, with both couples, the boy is shorter than the girl. Aelita is about Ulrich's height or a little shorter, thereby being taller than Jeremy (and Odd, since Odd is Jeremy's height). Sissy is Ulrich's height while Yumi is taller than all of them.

True about the warmth and happiness. Those two are always happiest around each other...although the same can go for Yumi and Ulrich...provided they're not bickering like a married couple at the time.
Details with chalk are really hard...unless the picture is drawn very large so that the details aren't really details anymore. XD Very difficult medium, chalk is...but you work really well with it.
It's so funny when the girls are taller than the boys...particularly if the girl has a tendency to get annoyed with said boy...glares are much more powerful when you're taller than the person you're glaring at...which may be yet another reason why Ulrich made a very quick "Exit. Stage Left" at the end of "Frontier".

Thanks! I was really tempted to use PhotoImpression to manipulate Aelita's eyes in this picture (would you believe they're supposed to be closed and those are supposed to be Aelita's eyelashes? )
Actually, the Y/U situation in "Yumi's Other Secret" would be beyond any stress they had in Season One. Imagine, if you will:
Ulrich: "...and on top of all that, my girlfriend turns out to be some sort of werewolf!"
Yumi (suddenly terrified): "Ulrich, whatever happens, please, if you ever had any feelings for me, don't ever call me that again!"
Ulrich: "Huh?"
Yumi: "They're real, Ulrich. Werewolves are real. And they are more dangerous and more terrifying than you can possibly imagine. There are at least two in the city. Thankfully, neither of them come anywhere near Kadic."

And Ulrich's next reaction: or
Very stressful indeed...probably would make XANA look like a piece of spam mail.
^_^ Hey, they looked closed to me. I certainly can't do that well with chalk, and definitely not to that kind of detail. I couldn't quite see the eyelashes...but Aelita's eyes do indeed look closed, so I think you really did a nice job on it.

I assume that kitsune and werewolves can recognize each other...
I touched up the drawing yesterday morning and re-scanned and re-submitted it last night.

It looks great! I mean, it looked just fine before but tiny littel extra touches never hurt. ^_^
I'd imagine other mystical creatures can recognise eachother. In Peter Beagle's "The Last Unicorn", the unicorn could identify the harpy and converse with it. And it would make sense that kitsune and werewolves could, as they both have human forms as well. One could make a really good fic inspired by "Yumi's Other Secret".

Thanks. I thought about it, but (as you've noticed) I haven't written much for the past few months.
The idea was that Yumi took Ulrich to a secluded place to tell him, or rather to show him, her last secret from him. She further informed him that Jeremy and Aelita already knew; as she put it: "You can't hide anything from the scanner".
There would have been a flashback to Jeremy's room where he and Aelita confronted Yumi with the discovery. After she admitted that she wasn't human, Jeremy wanted to drop her from the team, but Aelita persuaded him to keep her. They also agreed that the others didn't need to know.
And so it stayed, for more than a year, until now, when Yumi decided that she needed to let Ulrich know. She did not want to have any secrets from him. So she showed him. And he flipped out, for a while anyway.
The scene in Yumi's Other Secret would have been at the end of all that, where Ulrich still isn't sure that they can continue together, but where he is sure that he still loves her, and that he'll try to cope with this new truth.

Oh I like how that story plays out!!! That's very clever that the scanner would have been one of Yumi's downfalls! And the bittersweet ending is touching! ^_^ When "The Outlaw" is all wrapped up (not that I want it to end anytime soon ), you should definitely consider writing that one all out. It'd be a hit, to be sure!
But no worries about the "not writing" thing...truth be told, I think my track record for not writing anything is longer. I'm much too slow with my fanfics. XD

Carpe Diem! Well, I was really surprised to see it, and you know I loved it!
Definitely one of the best I've read! ^_^ And now my fanfic-hiatus has definitely gone on longer than yours. (j/k)
