SamBlob β€” Yumi's other secret?

Description Yesterday I saw the word kitsune one too many times, so I decided to look it up. I read an article describing the kitsune, its history in Japanese (and Korean) folklore, and its influence today. I also read of the legends of kitsune taking on the form of women and being romantically involved with men.

This is what my twisted imagination used that info to create. Yumi as kitsune, telling, or rather showing, Ulrich her last secret from him. Ulrich is stunned by the revelation, and confused by it, but reaffirms that he loves her even though he still doesn't know if he can get through this.

Sorry to reply this late, but you never saw Jumanji?

Here's something about Jumanji... with Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt... I recomend you to watch it, maybe you'll like it, maybe not...

I saw the ads for Jumanji, that was enough for me to decide: "This is a show to avoid!"

OTOH, that's what I thought when I saw the early Miguzi ads for Code Lyoko, so I could be wrong...

Jumanji's a movie. And your drawing reminded me of it, because at one moment of the movie, one of the kids gets to grow a tail.

IIRC, a fox's main traits are cunning and deceit...

Mine are more with the fact that foxes don't like to hang around others at most times. I'm quite more social than that, but hey, I like foxes. >w< If,though,I chose my alter ego's animal half by my personality, I'd either be a mouse or a dog. :3

I chose my "fursona" based on my appearance. Being huge and bearded, I created Bill Bison to represent me. I don't think of myself as part of a herd, though...

John Paul Googoo also turned out to be a bit like me; a big, fat, whiskered couch potato who keeps asking weird questions. He wasn't supposed to be a second fursona (especially since walruses don't have fur) but came to mind from the Beatles song "I Am The Walrus".

I guess Googoo is the naive me and Bill Bison is the sentimental me.

It's supposed to start showing on Cartoon Network again in April, or so I hear. These are characters from the show, except that I've turned one on them into a kitsune in this picture; she isn't one in the show.

Code Lyoko is kind of hard to explain. It's an anime from France, if that isn't an oxymoron. It's part action, part sci-fi, part romance, part high-school drama. The interaction between the characters is very well thought out and more than makes up for the goofs and the heavily recycled animation.

I remember reading that it used to be on some Canadian channels... something like ITV or YTV or something like that. However, I went back to the source and it doesn't mention that any more...

SWEET!! That'd make such a great idea for a story! Really cute picture, SamBlob! Great job!

It's such a coincidence because I was thinking of an idea for a fic, where something goes screwy with their Lyoko forms and they have to pick new ones for the time being. I actually had Ulrich choose a sort of Kitsune form, in homage to Inu-Yasha, but I think Yumi fits as the Kitsune much better. Way cool picture, SamBlob! ^_^

Thank you once again for your kind and enthusiastic comments.

Having watched very little anime, I had no idea what a kitsune was, and what I read was a bit frightening and a bit tragic. It seems as if a kitsune is a more psychological and less violent version of a werewolf, and sometimes just as evil (always just as evil in the Korean tradition...). The idea of kitsune as devious trickster had me thinking of Log Book again, and the tragic romance tales had me thinking of U/Y, hence this picture.

This took relatively little time from concept to final form, rivalling For Vili [link] as the shortest. The idea just wouldn't leave me alone until I drew and submitted it. This as opposed to "Downfall in Paradise", one of the River Mouth Vacation series, that I drew over a week ago and still haven't finished colouring...
