Hey can anyone help i'm trying to do this but I can't find the Airbrush brush he desribes in the first part of the tut.

I've looked at all the preset brushes but none of them have the smoothed faded edges like that one.

Do you have it on pressure sensitivity if you have a tablet?

If you're using a mouse youwont be able to get pressure sensitivity.

Hi! I was at the middle of the painting, when I saw this tutorial. I was at this disapointed and desperate state of mind - when you say - damn,I've been working on this for a while, and I'm tired, and it's not getting any better. I saw your wonderful works and you gave me a lot of inspiration + I've started using your brush and it's great. Thank you so much!I'm gonna finish this one

When you done the base colours and the shadows for the woman, did you merge the layers to add highlights and clean the outlines? Or just create a normal layer on top? Cleaning an outline like this seem to be a big problem to me.

Anyway, great tutorial.

By the way, when you do your shadows and highlights, do you use the black and white range on the multiply layer? Also, when your done creating your shadows, do you merge the flat colored layer and the shades and highlights layer so you can smooth the values?

sandara In reply to Linx120 [2009-04-21 02:28:03 +0000 UTC]

hi! i do use the multiply layers for the shadows, but i don't usually use black/white range... i will pick a more washed out color of whatever the background or light source color there is. this will give it a more natural lighting look.

i will use the overlay or color dodge layer for highlights.

yes, i do merge the layers

awesome, i had the same question as someone else did though, do you paint over your lines or just erase them when you feel you don't need them anymore?

Awesome tutorial. Extremely helpful. It answered the couple questions the other three hundred tutorials danced around. Where to begin. I can't get over that this is EXACTLY what I was looking for and I honestly think most tutorial goers are searching for as well. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you for being modest and simple too. There are tons of others I really feel are there to show off, wow people, and make the majority of us feel inferior. Lol. You rock!

You have beautiful, stunning and wonderfully creative gallery as well!

hello, first of all I congratulate you for your great tutorial, and I'm going through a crisis and creativity llebo almost 4 months without drawing anything decent, and this tutorial makes it easier on me back ^ ^.

I have 16 years and I have no internet at home, so do not upload anything interesting to deviantart.
something could be recommended to pass this crisis? rioja step realmete wrong.
(sorry I am Spanish and I do not understand English very well, there may be something wrong)
thanks.

I have a question. In your finished products, your lines are so clean and simple, rather than rough and "Jumping out at the viewer instead of the color." It works and makes the drawing look more professional. I have a problem with my outlines. What would be an easy way to make mine more like this?
