Here's how I make my squiggle animations using Gimp 2.6!
Gimp is free to download, you can download version 2.8 here: www.gimp.org/downloads/
I'm using an older Gimp though, so the layout or buttons may differ some. (I don't like updating much!)
I can't believe this took me hours to make, I really hope it's helpful! Sorry I don't have more time to make it pretty, but at least it's neat and organized. I did my best to explain it from a beginner's viewpoint, but you may still need to study Gimp a little.
This is also how I make my animated icons, it's a very simple process, just do a little experimenting and you'll get the hang of it.

Hmm.. I might try this...Once I learn how to draw with GIMP. I bet it might be harder just because I'm a mouse user.. .__.

It isnt hard drawing with mouse in GIMP. Even for beginners. Atleast if you know what youre doing.

It is animation though!^^ All animations are made by a series of still images, it's just that nowadays we also have programs that will construct those images for you.

I thought there was some sort of voodoo magic involved with this type of animation. Good thing it doesn't! XD I'll have to try this out soon; it looks so cute when it's done!
