Commission for ZiraDakota! I don't often depict alien or "impossible" landscapes as I prefer to portray real plants and settings, but since scene was a perfect I wanted to design a colorful forest/swamp landscape that looked clearly alien while feeling somewhat familiar. Apart from Zira the life forms shown here aren't exactly plants or animals as we know them, though their forms follow a number of the same basic functions having evolved in the presence of water.

This also has to be my best rendering of warm light so far. It's something I always struggled with since neutral or slightly cold light is much easier to render in traditional media, but all the color mixing exercises of the past year are beginning to pay off.
