Next, it is Sawaya’s turn. The older woman is even more anxious than her daughter at first, but as Xhi continues to patiently work with her, she becomes more relaxed and confident.

Sawaya learns a couple of basic moves, and then Xhi decides to increase the difficulty level a bit. She traps the older woman in a straight-jacket choke hold and pulls her back in a stressed position.

Xhi speaks calmly and clearly as she maintains the hold, “Remember…your mind is your greatest weapon…even when things are difficult, do not think of yourself as trapped…there is always a way out…so relax…and think…and work your way out!”

Yumiko stands nearby, watching and trying to inspire her mother, “Come on, Okaa-san! You can do it!”

Sawaya grunts and grits her teeth, but then she remembers Xhi’s words, so she takes a deep breath and tries to relax, so she can think clearly. And she continues to work…and work…and work….
