Description Troy lay flat on the surface of the void. "What exactly does revenge entail?" He wanted to sound wary but secretly he craved vengeance. Red comfortably leaned against an invisible wall. "Oh boy, where to start. Why not the beginning? Thousands of years ago, a single star twisted and wound it's way around the universe. Just like countless others. There was nothing special about this star. However in the right place, at the right time the ordinary leads to the extraordinary."
"This star suddenly erupted with surprising force. Even so stars die every day, this was not unheard of. Things went about as they should. Radiation flung in every direction and stained all celestial objects it encountered. Special types of radiation travel unbelievable distances."
"Normally this radiation misses all planets, stars, or any other object and dissipates harmlessly. This time however, the shot in the dark actually hit something of importance. This time, it struck Earth. Now at this level of exposure the blast might have marginally increased global cancer rates  at best. It wasn't an unheard of event."
"Again something spectacular happened. Don't you look at me like I'm crazy, it's true. Around the world particular individuals possessed a rare, recessive gene. So rare that it most likely would have been completely whipped out in a mater of 70 years. In all likelihood only 500 people had the gene."
"Due to this gene's molecular structure it was acutely sensitive to gamma rays. When the radiation hit the planet these individual's genes mutated." Red's eye's sparkled, and he couldn't contain his excitement.

"They changed, Troy. Things were done that couldn't be done. The impossible became reality. To each his own gift and unique wonder. They were given power."

Troy itched in his clothing. Is this for real? He scoffed at himself. (He felt at home now in his confusion.) What is real anymore? "So people were running around with superpowers?"

"And still are" replied Red.

"This is ridiculous." Red took a few steps towards Troy and held up his right pointer finger.

"You have no idea." Before another word was spoken, the finger started to glow. Spikes of light grew, attempting to illuminate the darkness. Red continued his approach, as the light engulfed more and more of Troy's vision. Finally in a single instant the darkness was gone replaced by a soothing light. In that moment Troy felt a single touch, as Red's finger found his forehead.  Beneath his feet the floor moved and slowly an edge slid it's way from his heel's towards his toe's. He was falling. Head over heel's, twisting and spinning he fell. In his sleep there was no gravity. Up was down, down was up. Then he slammed against the ground. Gravity returned along with the dark.
But this was different. No longer was he in the realm of his own mind. He was awake.

Still in the dark, the world whispered more than ever before. It sent him finite sensations. His heart pulled and stretched in his chest, shifting gooey blood throughout his body. Nerves, like  live wires, told his brain about the soft cotton blanket he was wrapped in. How each fine fiber met in a mesh that formed minute diamond shapes. Scratching air was forced into and pushed out of his body. He could feel each breath, swirling and gliding inside the many tubes and pipelines of each lung. The air smelled of bleach and lime scented cleansers. Each breath tasted of hospital. Even voices could be heard on the other side of the thick metal doors.
"I'm sorry that's not an option." He recognized this voice from before. It was the man who gave him the intravenous drugs. Then a new voice emerged, albeit in a hushed tone. The man sounded Irish.
"But Mr. Carlson the boy can't be trusted. We have no history of him whatsoever. All we know for sure is that he's Robert's boy."

"And that is precisely why I trust him Brent. If there is one man to be trusted it was his father. We will not kill the son of my friend. Is that understood?"

"But sir, he is a risk, how do we know he's not-"

"Mr. Dulin, this is not a debate." Bret's heavy footsteps stormed off. An electronic panel pinged and iron bolts slid out of the lock. The door then hummed, as it was pulled into the wall. Footsteps entered. Troy shut his eyes tighter, wishing not to be disturbed.

"Good you're awake." Troy sat up and opened his eyes.

"I am now. What are you- Whoa" Fantastic detail surprised him as he looked around the room. The fingerprints left on the mirror above the sink on the right. Ibuprofen, Advil, and several anesthetics greeted each other with colorful labels, rotated this way and that on a shelf tucked into the back left corner of the room. Dust, illuminated in the air by a florescent light, had shape and mass. Each unique piece boldly showing it's form. Medical posters of the eye, renal tract, nervous system, and others fit like a jigsaw puzzle on the far wall. A box of plastic gloves sat crookedly on a spotted cabinet that took up the entire right wall. One glove stood out of the box proudly displaying four tall fingers and hiding a droopy thumb. The floor was waxed and clean with a few black skid marks where a person had slid a small stool about the bed. Comfortably seated on the stool, at the end of the bed, was Carlson. He had his knees apart with an elbow resting on each. While his hands met in a calm tangle concealing a minute smile. He had a thin head, like a slightly stretched, inverted egg. Blond hair capped his head, sheltering his forehead from the cool room. Veins pulsated in the white of each of his eyes. Calm  and control was displayed in his glance. His dark eyebrows seemed laden with dreary responsibility. This is a man in charge.

"Easy, how do you feel?" Troy scratched his bandage-wrapped head.

"Fine, I guess." To be honest, his head still held a small ember of pain.

"Really? Hmm well nothing went wrong. The surgery went off without a hitch. However we noticed some anomalies afterwords..."

Lol it will probably take forever -_-. Both me and my beta reader are very busy with school. But it is about 1/3 complete at the moment.(The fun never ends!X.X) Also it's finaly going to start to pick up to some action. As this is a action/sci-fi series (probably a suprise considering there hasn't been any real action yet)but I promise to publish all my chapters as soon as they are reader worthy.
