It was cancelled a year ago. You have to understand that a network orders several episodes of a series at a time, and these are all finished up in a row. This is separate from cancellation. Cancellation means they've disbanded the creators and have no plans to order MORE episodes. They still have to finish the ones they already ordered and air them.
I thought you'd have known all this by now, it's how every show has always worked 0o
I think Chowder only has a couple of episodes left. The creator knew they were probably getting cancelled when Cartoon Network only ordered a half-sized season. The half-season of episodes were just getting wrapped up when the cancellation was announced.

I'm glad that Chowder has been cancelled; it was funny early on, but then all the jokes became loud, repetitive, and well, unfunny, just like Spongebob.
