Are you familiar with ArtRage? It is the most "painting-like" interface which mimics just the actual real medias, and restricts itself to that same concept. It does not get all the fluff with Painter or Photoshop, but it can import and export .psd layers with great accuracy and details. When I looked at your stroking and transparency techniques, I though you might like that program, if only to get some textures into your paint strokes, or experiment to see how your style would translate. I think you will be surprised at what you can accomplish with it. There is a free demo version too! Enjoy!
