Aww wow, I'm sorry for all the fave-spamming, but these tutorials are amazing, and I'm so grateful you've made them!
You've inspired me to get off my arse and do some studying for a while - being away from Uni nearly 4 months doesn't help in the slightest
I shall recommend these to my friend who is also having the same issues! 8D

Concerning note 2, I DO THE SAME THING. That's why I don't cartoon much in public; I ALWAYS either make that face, an equally funny/stupid face, or have my tongue sticking out. Not kidding. At all.

Your tutorial was amazingly helpful. I had a wall in drawing faces and was stuck. Now thanks to you I drew some faces and at last started improving a bit. Also your way of doing sphere models is pretty practical. Though I still have problems drawing neck and abdomen area as there are very little bones there except the spine. Therefore I tend to draw them a bit too long and thus they ruin the overall pose :S. Any tips?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to Rakykia [2009-06-23 21:00:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, look at your own neck/ at the necks of others... how long is the neck compared to the face? Look at your pics too to see what you think looks off (too long or short?). For the abdomen, it helps to think maybe in terms of organs instead of bones. Your ribcage has your lungs and heart and diaphragm in it, but underneath is the part with your guts and liver and kids and all those other fun bits. Take a look at an anatomy picture to get a sense of what you need in there to survive, and try to remember it the next time you draw a torso If you put too little room, your character might not be able to digest food or something! Sometimes thinking practically can solve problems like those.

Rakykia In reply to shingworks [2009-06-23 21:14:28 +0000 UTC]

xD Never thought of organs mainly because it'd be a pain to practice anatomy of the insides. It might work though so I'll give it a try! Thanks for the tip.

I'm going to (politely, I love your tutorials!!) add one thing. If your generally a manga or anime fan, the annoying rotated parenthases(sp?) are okay if your writing humor. Nothing ruins a good horror manga like rotated parenthases.(I've experienced this, i will find the artist and murder them)

Mmm...helpful.

Gack! I can't draw the same person over and over in a comic without making them look slightly different, how can I fix that? :<

shingworks In reply to vivid-vulture [2009-06-12 04:36:41 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, I have the same problem actually XD I think you just have to memorize proportions from all angles and double check your work a lot.
