Description My first venture out into my element of nature photography after my previous week shooting my sisters wedding.

Lanhydrock National Trust House and Garden's are always delightful and sunrises never seem to disappoint. The avenue shown here is starting to get its autumn colour with the sunlight streaming through the low lying mist.

Even though I was suffering with the remnants of a cold and my walking boots have finally packed in and leaked from the dew and ground frost, you couldn't dampen our spirits in a place like this.

Fingers crossed for some more good weather next weekend. I need to try this with my filters since the right side of the image is whited out.

Edit: My fella =avalonmoon13 has put one of his photos up of this scene from another angle.

I love how this photo graduates from darkness to light, passing through some blazing colours in the process. You don't need to retouch it or revisit this spot - you've done a great job!

Thanks. Yes this place does have something magical during all the seasons. Autumn especially for the colours. Spring even more for the magnificent Camellias and Magnolia's. I'm here all the time. My gallery is full of it!

great avenue of colour.
"I need to try this with my filters since the right side of the image is whited out."
dont do it. keep it real.
with all the shadows the filter will totally fuzz your cameras ability to identify the right white balance and colours.
if you are going to re shoot, multi expose and blend in ps or something similar.

Now... I replied to this comment last night via my phone but it doesn't seem to have posted. Plus it was late and I can't really remember what I said!

I do have this scene at another angle with multipule exposures I could have a play with in Photoshop. I've never actually used PS to any real extent with my photography. One day my job or job roll will change to one where I don't look at the computer screen all day. When that happens I might decide to utilise post processing techniques rather than my current method of trying to do as much as possible when I'm out with the camera. Though I do prefer this option, it gives me a better sense of achievment. Currently the idea of switching my laptop on at home for any great length of time fills me with a sense of feeling that there are much better things to be doing in the real world.

Nights are drawing in and the working hours aren't getting any shorter. I need all the free time and daylight I can get at the moment!

lakemans In reply to Shutterflutter [2009-10-19 20:16:25 +0000 UTC]

fair enough. I never spend more than 10-20 mins on a picture. If it requires more then I have failed to capture as much as possible in camera, just you do.
I only make minor colour changes in lightroom to make sure the temps are the same etc...then blend in PS elements 6.
I understand the whole time thing. Im studying at the moment, time is limited.
This 10 minutes has been earned by writing an assignment for 6 hrs today....yey....!

Ah yes, so what course are you studying then? I hope it is all going well. I would have liked to have got my teeth stuck into an OU course but it wasn't meant to be. I'm sticking with reading and exploring subjects that interest me, which was English history but now just started a book about the classical world. I will be dreaming about General Maximus tonight!!!

Sounds similar to me then. It's the getting out and taking photos that I love most.

I know I said I didn't like turning the laptop on in my own time but I keep meaning to write a journal on here! Plus the time has been earned by um... not watching X-Factor, ever!
