You can change the menu highlights fairly easily. Just look for this part of the code and change the 99e1ff to a color of your choice.

Changing the text is a bit more difficult, unfortunately.

How do I change the cursive font used for the header?

Look for the following text in the code:
.journaltop h2{
color: #63bfe5;
font-family: 'Satisfy', 'Lato', cursive;
font-size: 50px;
}
The font was called Satisfy, so you can change that to whatever font you would like (ex: times new roman). Make sure to use a websafe font or a google font, otherwise you'll be able to see the font, but other people who don't have it downloaded won't.
