I'm thinking about the dust clouds at his feet.
To me they look very flat, and that you've just put a simple texture layer over a bit of shading. Now I know if I tried that people would crit the living hell out of it but for your editors it's ok...? Not that I'm criticisng you of course, just musing on the seemingly double standards (or my overall inexperience perhaps?) as I see it.

I spend less time on the unimportant parts of the composition so the focus can remain on the REAL parts. I threw some texture on it and using the double lighting gave it some shape, but the less I noodle the smoke, the more the eye accepts it as such and moves on to the real subject matter of the piece.
