Description I got my pack of 50 colored pencils (plus some acrylic paint) and decided to experiment mixing media, along with using references. I feel like I've been artistically stagnant for a long time, and I really want to improve, especially if I'm going to sell my art.

Media used:
Pencil, sketching, not present in the final picture
Ink, outlines
Watercolor paints, base color
Colored Pencil, shading/texture
Acrylic paint, eye shine (I also tried to put their whiskers on, and failed epically. That's why Heidi [the top rabbit] has that weird splotch over her eye.)

Things I've learned:
Use a more absorbent paper. I thought this being practice, I could get away with using computer pater. The paper didn't absorb the watercolors at all, which caused them to go outside the outlines quite a bit.

The fur is still lacking in detail. Next time I practice, I think I'll use the technique next to Heidi (the top rabbit).

Feathers and veins. Oh my God, FEATHERS AND VEINS. First, I didn't look up a reference for the veins in their ears, something I'll do next time. But feathers, how do I shade you!?

I'm not too fond with how I made their eyes. :/ I colored them the way I always do, but I feel it's to cartoony (not that there's anything wrong with cartoony). I may make a page full of eyes (creepy) to color in and experiment with.

"Style". I honestly am lost in how I'm supposed to draw. I'm very scientifically minded, I love biology and seeing how things work. Naturally, it seems like I'd steer toward realism. But at the same time, I do like part of how I've been drawing, like the ink outlines and simplifying areas of the drawings. These right here are actually a combination of the cartoonish way I usually draw, and the realism I wanted to try. How does it look?

Other:
Yes, Heidi has opposable thumbs. I won't bore you with the details, but since she lives in a world where magical creatures (and thus magic) exists, a spell to give opposable thumbs to the more animal-like creatures is commonplace.

The one below Heidi is her biological brother. Due to genetics (again, I won't bore you) he looks almost entirely like a Skvader, but has the intelligence of a regular rabbit/hare. Zach (Heidi's adoptive father) keeps him in a hutch with his rabbit, his and Heidi's biological mother.

If you want to know more about Heidi and her crazy origins, shoot me a note. Ha, like anyone will.
