In The 7th Turning Hour, Shall The Victim's Shadow Fall?
Should The Irony Grow Hungry With The Victory, And All They Sought For?

I take another blow, landing closer and closer to that ominous edge; an edge that leads to who knows where but anything was better than this. Better than looking into those deep scarlet eyes filled with such malice and hate. Better than continually standing just to be knocked back down by those gloved hands, those hands that reach towards my neck with only deadly intentions. I can't stand it.

All around me are the sounds of screams, the smell of blood and burning death, debris and destruction surround me yet all I can see is him. Invading ships from my enemy's fleet swarm around us, basking us in the neon green glow from their destructive discharges.

Despite his callous actions, not one menacing laugh or grin crossed his enticing lips. It figures as soon as I get a grasp on my emotions he would decide to kill me. It wasn't that I didn't want to fight back, it was that I couldn't. The waging war had left me dead inside; I could no sooner pick my own limp body up after every blow than raise my fist to his beautiful face.

Another slap from his wired legs leaves a gash across my face that mixes with my sweat and flows relentlessly down my determined face. My footing again falters backwards, sliding to a stop on the crumbling rock; there was nowhere else to go but down.

My amber eyes slowly raise to meet his, dare I even think to see frustration in them? No! Pain? But it quickly fades as his right hand rises, his gun jabbing roughly into my chest. And then a sound so silent pierces the invading massacre around me, a voice so torn?

"What's wrong with you, dib-stink? Why don't you fight me?"

All I could do was stare at him and his ability to talk so calm, and stupidly oblivious, under the particular circumstances. His stare never left mine, piercing through me but never past me.

The silence between our tense stances became too much and I manage a final bought of strength. My brows furrow in anger, and I reach my hand up to grab the end of the gun violently, forcing him to step closer.

I could feel his breath, and if this was my last moment, I'm not sure how better a way to spend it.

"I hate you, Zim. I can't think of anything I've ever despised more. I - hate - you...because I love you."

I took that sincere moment of shock to steal a vicious kiss from his unaware lips; my first. The sensation left me with a renewed courage of the fate that no doubt waited for me. Whether it was my dizzying senses, or the overpowering yearning I had for him to return that final act of depressed contact, I could have sworn I felt those smooth lips move slightly against mine in tattered confusion.

Without any warning, an intrusion of green light forces through my closed eyes, and I am forced backwards. I adjust my blurring vision to see Zim's protruded wire legs shooting a beam of energy past me, and hitting the hull of a Spittlerunner. The explosion of the Irken ship hardly startles me.

"Why, Zim?"

Our eyes locked again, and I could feel the ground below me slowly crumble due to the unexpected upsurge, but there was that smirk; that damned annoying laugh.

"Because, Dib. I won't allow anyone but me to kill you!"

There was an inaudible ping, a click and another beam of green energy pierced through the blood red sky. My body goes limp for the last time as I finally leave solid ground, I slowly become weightless and take that final fall backwards into nothingness.

This is an entry for 's newest contest in which we were asked to pick a song that described the love/hate relationship between Dib and Zim and then draw something inspired by that song, this is my result!!

I started out just drawing a picture to a song but then felt the need to write a short fic about it...eh first time writting zadr, enjoy...or not!

The Song I chose was Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria, to me it was the perfect fit, the fact that it's one of my favorite songs has nothing to do with it! ^^

Fucking up all I do
Yeah, and if so here we stop

With truth on the shores of compassion

You stormed off to scar the armada
Like Jesus played letter
I'll drill through your hands
The stone for the curse you have blamed me
With love and devotion, now die as you sleep

But if you could just write me out
To never less wonder, happy will I become
