Description I saw this in the Group Description of #Depression-victims and asked if I could make it into a Stamp, and was given permission to do so.
For

GIMP 2.6.11

Edit:
If you have something to say, please limit it to critique on the stamp itself, not the message behind it. I have no associating with the Group, I simply thought it was a nice statement and converted it into a stamp.

Well, the main focus of that comment wasn't about the commercials (if that's what you're talking about). I was just using that as an example to get my point across.

No, I might have misunderstood you but the impression I got from your comment was that you were saying depression caused by troubles in your life is reasonable but depression from a mental illness isn't. As I said, an illness isn't something you can control, their brain is messing with them so the misery is just as real as someone who has gone through tough times.

Yeah I know. It's a mental problem, not caused by external factors.

I understand what you are saying, that depression the mental disorder is different than "being depressed".

Just thought the choice of words was odd...

Besides, real strength involves expressing and admitting all of your problems and weaknesses and fears whenever you have them rather than holding those in. Then you take 'em all HEAD ON!!! I mean along with your friends and God by your side while doing so. If you hold it in you only are being self-destructive rather than "strong".

Then be strong longer. Or ask good old God to help out. He's always cool with dealing with my depression. Really. Also when you think about it it's only a failure in strength that causes it rather than having it for too long. It ain't the fall that kills ya but the sudden stop at the bottom that does.

Schadenfruede In reply to UB3RCHA0 [2011-02-23 10:02:56 +0000 UTC]

LOL God.

I don't know if I'm really depressed. Maybe I'm just pathetic, but all I know is I've asked any higher being time and time again, I've begged, pleaded, hoped and cried. Time and time again I've asked for a little help. I haven't asked for a miracle, just a tiny bit of help. I have never had my prayers answered.

I don't believe in God, because god doesn't help. God doesn't exist. If he does, he doesn't do shit and he's just some asshole hanging around the clouds watching people suffer.

Sometimes you can't be strong, not any longer. When you're alone and no one will help when you can't help yourself- especially not God.

Two things: one, sometimes you just really cannot be strong longer. Two- some people don't believe in God/don't have any religion.

This is an awesome stamp you have no idea how much i can relate to this!!!!
simply beautiful
To those people who can't understand the meaning of the message it's either you've never been depressed before or you've never tried to be strong or at least pretend to be strong for a long period of time.

i've been depressed for so long at times i cry myself to sleep, and all this time it's because i thought i was too weak and that all my problems are too much for me. when i read this stamp it gave me at least a glimmer of light that i may not be that weak at all, i mean i'm not attempting to commit suicide, runaway from home, do drugs or drown myself in alcohol thinking it's my only escape from all my problems, that'll just make a another weak coward.

i'm still here still fighting the pain and sorrow... trying to stray strong... and i guess that i am depressed not because my problems have left me no choice but crawl under a rock and die, but because i've been trying t stay strong for too long that sometimes i loose hope and end up being depressed.

depression does not mean i am weak, it means i''ve been strong for too long... sometimes it hurts...

if i am weak i would just jump off the 14th floor of my school and get it all over with.

This deserves a DD

Makes sense. Holding your emotions and doing what needs to be done can sometime tire someone until they break. It's not their fault. I like this.

It doesn't make any sense at all.
It reads "Depression isn't being weak, it's becoming weak over time."

It's like a levy. You take on more and more problems and pains, until eventually you break. The message means you were holding out too long and eventually broke down.

As a victim of manic-depression, I agree whole-heartedly with this stamp. Excellent work.

As for the stamp itself, it is nicely colored, smoothly animated, and the message is clearly stated. Very well done.

You might have noticed by looking at the group's page that I'm a co-Founder. All I can say is...wow! Someone actually knows the group exists! I noticed a huge leap today in members and watches, and I'm pretty sure it's because of this deviation. I cannot thank you enough for putting this saying into stamp form.

This is very good, and inspiring. I have a friend who struggles with clinical depression, and people often seem to think that it's somehow her own fault that she's depressed and that she can stop being depressed if she wanted to. This really describes her, and I'm glad you made it. Thank you.

I suffer from chronic depression, I have lows and lowers and rarely any "highs". I cannot begin to tell you how much I agree with this stamp, Because strength )and medication) is the only thing keeping me going.
