Hello Everyone! Hope you are doing well!

I'm really happy to show (after the con I went to) a new reference I was working on, I actually have two going on right now, one that was a Gift Art and another that was my own.

If you can believe it, this is one of mine. Kryss was created a while back to be a direct rival or foil to Silphie's super idealistic and altruistic nature. Kryss, was a lot of fun to draw out and finally get a lot of the finer details about her likes / dislikes or personal details. It was also very nice to get a solid grip on her backstory as well, there's a bit more but sometimes it's too much info.

So Kryss is a dark alchemist or a witch, but as my personal belief goes that typically people aren't born evil, it's just circumstances in a lot of cases, Kryss is a good example of this.
A lot of it is in the profile but at a young age she was quite a smart, shy and kind girl. Her innate intelligence and manipulation of a rare dark element at a young age was noticed by the royal council, and her parents were given an opportunity. Kryss was handed over to the royal alchemists / doctors to tap into her unusual genius, and for the cost of their child they could further their status in the nobility. This also provided the king with an incredible magician with unmatched power.

Of course this involved surgically implanting runes into her body and forcing her mind to absorb all of the knowledge each of the runes contain. Of course the physical pain from the surgery was severe but... the real cost is that she almost went mad from all of the information being inserted into her head at once. She found that the runes seemed to have more knowledge about the world than what the kingdom knew about... and she witnessed all of it.

She believed at that point that humanity was an irredeemable creature of cyclical self destruction, and she saw that the society around her was a facade based on controlling the masses for the "haves", like how her parents abandoned her for status or power. She now believed in this truth, but wanted to destroy this idea herself by any means necessary.
Kryss has managed to conceal her real power and slowly move herself into a position where she can cause the nobility she hated to "self destruct like it always does... but to accelerate the process a bit", then afterward to pass her judgement onto the rest of society.

Usually Silphie and Kryss are the primary characters that tend to clash their ideals and have two distinct ways of fighting as well.   Though it's interesting that I believe in another world they could have actually been really good friends.     Though deep down, Kryss is still a person with a lot of cool interests, loves to learn, research and even collect bugs. Even though she seems like a somber character she's got a lot of really fun points, it's just more subtle and there's a lot to play with here.
