Suerte23 — I accept the canon, but...

Description Warning: Fruits Basket spoilers ahead.

It's possible to accept the canon pairings in a series while still supporting the ones we like in fanon. For instance, in Fruits Basket, nearly every person ended up with someone in the end. I accept all of those pairings as canon (such as Kyo/Tohru), but I still support Kyo with Yuki, Yuki with Tohru, etc. So long as we keep our canon and fanon separate, I see no harm in supporting outside of what the author wrote. (:

Just a question.  Who are all your OTPs?

Do you mean everything I ship, or just my top favorites? It's a long list either way.

Thank you for making this stamp. I mean, I know what the canon is and I know that it will never change but I prefer fanon mostly because the fanfiction does some very great or humourous twists and plots on it; provided the fanfiction is somewhat realistic and does not turn the canon into something OOC and utterly repulsive. However that does make me stupid and ignorant and pushy in what I like. Of course I KNOW that it will never happen, I've accepted that, but my preferances lie elsewhere.
Phew! Thank you for letting me rant. I am sorry about that.
Great job on the stamp!

I generally don't mind other people's preferences. I may not share them, but to each their own. I myself like canon, semi-canon, and some fanon pairings. However, I do have a few pet peeves:

1. The shipping wars really need to stop. I understand that people like/dislike different characters/pairings. Plus, the larger a fanbase is, the greater the variety of opinions. But some fanbrats take it way too far... I've noticed a ton of bashing and hate art against characters just because they "get in the way" of certain pairings. Then they spam various sites by shoving their own fav. ship down everyone else's throat. Example: "LIKE OMG! NARUSASU 4EVA! SAKURA AND HINATA CAN GO SUCK D#CK!!!!!!!!"

2. It's annoying to see excessive flanderization of certain characters used as a plot device to facilitate certain pairings. Again, I'm referring to bashing a character who "gets in the way." In fanfiction, some writers do it using characters that in canon, are already a threat to the pairing, just to add drama. (Lord forbid if, in canon, there are hints of a love polygon). I don't mind that either. But when the writer distorts a genuinely good character into an ooc jerkface, that can completely ruin a story. Example: "Amy Rose likes Sonic the Hedgehog, but he hates her and even abuses her. Shadow the Hedgehog comes along, rescues her or they have a heart-to-heart, they fall in love, and then Shadow and Amy live happily ever after."

3. Personal attacks are by far the most annoying part of any fanbase. Again, the fanbrats need to knock it off. Criticism and stating opinions is one thing, but insults and bashing are another ballgame. It's bad enough they're shoving their opinions down everyone's throat, but what's worse is that some of them insult anyone who doesn't agree with them. Then some troll comes along and deliberately makes inflammatory remarks for kicks, and then a huge flame war results.
Example:
Zutara fan: Zutara ROX!!
Kataang fan: Kataang FOREVER!!!
Troll: Kataang is 4 FAGS!!!!!!
Kataang fan: OMG, how dare you! Zutarians are stupid lyke have no lyfe!
Troll 2: Your all stupid dumb m0r0ns if you lyke pairings at all!
Zutara fan: No way! I like Zutara and if u don't, then u hate us fans!

My point(s): First off, people are getting way too caught up in the [love] lives of FICTIONAL characters. Second, fanwars do NOT influence what becomes canon. It IS the creator's choice in the end. Third, if romance is not the main genre, then it doesn't need to be the most important thing to focus on anyway. Naruto, Avatar, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Harry Potter are not soap operas. The engaging plot and individual character development is what matters. If you feel differently, it's okay; there's always fanart/fanfiction. Have fun. It's all for entertainment anyway. No need to hate or pick fights.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. I probably bored everyone to tears with my wall of text...

I completely agree with all of your points. Sometimes fandom can be fun, but the fanbrats ruin everything. That's why I typically stay out of shipping fandom; they're totally immature and can't respect an opinion. The Sonic pairing fandom was the most immature out of them all, but I have to say that Bleach's is the worst I've ever seen. It's like dude, chill. They're only fictional characters. It won't kill you if your OTP doesn't happen, and you should stop trying to claim it as canon when it's far from it. And you shouldn't be reading a shounen manga for romance in the first place, you know?

I also find it amusing how the same people who claim their ship is going to be canon proceed to bash another. Guess they're not as confident in their pairing as they claim to be, huh? And honestly, who cares if some people support another pairing? Ship and let ship. Everyone has an opinion.

Don't worry, I enjoyed reading your wall of text. :D It's always comforting to know that not all of the shipping fandom is crazy.

Except for Momiji. Poor little bunny. We decided that's because Momiji is for everyone, hehe! Seriously though, that was the mother of all tying up of loose ends...er...did I have a point? *wanders away whistling*

And I'm pretty sure Kagura stayed single too. And I think they're the only two out of the thirty-something (totally just making a blind estimate here) to not end up with anyone. XD No kidding. I get that the author wanted everyone to have someone, but come on. It's not even realistic for everyone in one group to all get into a relationship at the same time.

Oh....Kagura! Yeah, I'd forgotten about her.

Yeah, highly unrealistic. I mean, even Ritsu. Well, and some of those pairings seemed like a real stretch, but maybe that's just me.

I haven't gotten to the end yet. I only read about the anime/manga differences after I'd finished the anime, so I suppose I'll see when I get there. (But Ritsu with Mii? Really? And Saki with Kyo's grandfather made no sense at all to me. I accept the final pairings, but that doesn't mean I agree with them. XD)

His Foster Father, but yeah, that pairing in particular made no sense, and appeared to come out of no where. It was just random. The Ritsu with Mii at least had a teeny tiny sort of basis...kinda...almost (Is freaking out about things really a basis for a relationship? Hehe)
