Description Beautiful scene in the manga where Darren puts on suddenly realises that his Father-figure and mentor, Mr Crepsley, is dead and gone. He puts on Larten's coat, and cries into it.
The Sadness.
I only coloured this in with gimp.

It was such a beautiful ending to the series.
it's also the only book series where practically and literally everyone dies. xD

Yeah. But somehow, when you read, as Darren after begins to get over his death, we do too. Was a great piece of writing convention!

Yeah, that's true but ever now and then it'll slip into your mind and make you think about it.

Trust me, the 5th books you see a step up in the art.
The 6th, you see a definite improvement.
By the seventh, the art becomes hugely improved, and onwards, it's just beautiful! ^_^

And the story gets deeper and more complex ^_^

Why is it that sadness is what makes people look the most beautiful? <:/ thats always puzzled me.

Maybe it's because of the pure and undiluted raw emotion.
To see such a powerful sentiment made into a visual medium I've always thought was a powerful thing to see. :]
Arai did an incredible job!
His work was simply stunning, especially during and after book 6!

I just used some darker colours on the jacket and upped the contrast.
It needed a change I thought. :]

Especially with the fake chapter where Shan [the Author] made it seem like Larten was saved at the last minute. ;__;

I think a lot of us did! :[
I really hope that Darren met Larten again after he died as a little person in Paradise!
If I ever meet Mr Shan in real life, I'll ask him that! xD

All my childhood dreams and hopes rest on it!

touching moment in both manga and novels
made me cry
(moments were different but still powerful nonetheless...)

Even in Death, May You be Triumphant... Larten Crepsley

SuperDecimal In reply to ShugyokuSeiryu [2010-12-14 01:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.
It was a very emotional and powerful point int he books, but I like how in the manga, they expanded on it, by instead of having Darren simply look in the mirror and see how empty his eyes were, he put on Larten's coat and that was what triggured him off.

*Death touch mark*

The original plan was for the Saga to have some 18 to 24 books.
Thank god they stopped at 12.
And the ending was wonderful in my opinin. :]
