Something you might want to consider that might ease your workflow a bit, SniperGirl.  There is a function in Blender called "Quick Fur".  Object Tab>Quick Effects>Quick Fur.

It allows you to skip a couple steps in initial hair creation, and neatly places the hair stubs onto your selected vertex groups, or surface.  (No wild hair!)   You can adjust its length and other attributes just as you do when creating a Hair Particle emitter under the normal procedure.

You're perfectly welcome.

Quick Fur is a very nice streamline to the hair creation process.

Speaking of getting a job, my band recently got fired (treachery within the band itself), so now I gotta go hunting for a new gig.

Thank you for this tutorial.  Hair is always one of the most tedious and trying tasks in creating 3D characters.

Good tutorial ~
Q: How about if I add a second material to get a better control of hair and work with it separately from head material?

It's not that hard.
Just include some specularity to it.

ahh alright

This is the one I used to work with:
As you can see, it's a separated material from scalp, so you can have a better control of it, for example, increasing glossyness withouy scalp shining
(Heres a result)(Of course it needs a little work on specularity, but seems good so far)

The hair construction like this is absolutely with just one particle system imo. I tried to get nice looking front bangs and the hair on the back was destroyed, I fixed the back, but side and part of front was destroyed...

And then I placed mesh hair back to same layer and deleted particles.

i will make another mini tutorial to make the hair more easy, i forgot to tell a thing very important, nice one anyway

I'm probably doing something wrong. I can kinda get it working, but my PC really struggles. I'm assuming this requires a strong PC.

SushiBreaker In reply to Reanimatiion [2017-12-27 11:18:01 +0000 UTC]

well, so so, can you tell me your Pc specs?

Reanimatiion In reply to SushiBreaker [2017-12-27 15:34:04 +0000 UTC]

My PC is terrible. I can use Blender slowly for most stuff but I guess this is too much for it.
