Loved your very sexy cosplay outfit of Black Lady from Sailor Moon, very detailed outfit and it fits you like a glove and the makeup is perfect. You're the best & sexiest cosplay of Black Lady Iβve seen, you done Black Lady justice. I am also pleased that you showed off your long lovely legs by wearing your glossy, nude pantyhose with yourΒ red stiletto high heel shoes instead of being bare legged. Please accept my feedback as merely encouragement only. Please feel free to make more lovely and cosplay with you showing off both your long sexy legs hosiery, I hope to see more in the future. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I always think cosplayers should wear nylons. They do nice things for legs.

you've done an excellent job on every aspect. in particular, i love the shoes, the collar, and that perfect wig. you did an outstanding job on your makeup too! wow, i adore that black moon and those sensational dark pink eyes and eyebrows.
fantastic work, simply fantastic.

One thing you must have to be Wicked Lady: some hella good legs. You look great! I love the fabric you chose for her dress, perfect.

Thank you so much! I knew I had to do this pose. I might try to completely recreate the artbook image in a later photoshoot, hopefully with a nice set too.

Great idea! Try to find aa bottle of the perfume Opium by Yves St Laurent as Naoko was inspired by an advertising for it when she drew the pose for Black Lady

Unfortunately, the actual Opium bottle from the ad is a completely different shape than the one she uses in the artbook image. It would have made finding a bottle easier, that's for sure. I'm still on the look out for the perfect bottle.

Preeettttty. *_* I love all the fabrics you used for this, they really make the costume stand out!

Thank you! I tried to find a fabric for the main body of the costume that would have that weird black-red effect that the manga photos have. I'm glad I held out until I found something that would do that, than settle for something less. Everything else I made sure meshed well together. I'm glad you appreciate my persistence in fabric shopping!

Absolutely, I think fabric choice is really important in cosplay! I always hated seeing Gundam military uniforms done in satin, or the Sailor Moon fukus in crushed velvet... it just didn't fit! I think the texture and type of fabric used for a costume is just as important as the color, and I love seeing it done right.

Oh, that satin horror I've seen... There are very few cosplays that call for satin, yet it is constantly over represented as a cosplay fabric. Why?!?!?
And don't even get me started on crushed velvet. The only cosplay I've ever seen that worked with crushed velvet was one (read, ONE!) Queen Beryl cosplay.

I really don't get the satin thing either! It's not like it's especially cheap, and the satins that are cheap are meant more for coat linings than anything else. I only had one satin cosplay outfit, and it was Devil Hunter Yohko; but she wears a modified cheongsam (sp?), which are traditionally silk, so I figured I could get away with it. And even though it was satin, it was a textured, matte satin. My favorite fabric to use for most silky outfits was called Peachfuzz. It was soft, lightweight, and not too shiny; it flowed beautifully, and it was awesome cuz I could get it at Wal-Mart. XD I think I still have 5 yards of it for a Nehelenia costume I never made. ^_^;
I think crushed velvet should be outlawed for cosplay. Even if it's a really elaborate dress, what's wrong with actual velvet or velour? lol, it's good to find someone as nitpicky about fabric as I am. XD

tangibletenacity In reply to Merowynn [2010-08-14 00:16:23 +0000 UTC]
! You should totally go ahead and make that Nehelenia costume! (I'm always recruiting for more villains XD) There definitely aren't enough Nehelenias out there.
I don't have a Wal-mart close enough to be convenient, but that Peachfuzz tip is something I'll definitely remember. Thanks!
And yes. Crushed velvet should be reserved for cheap carnival stuffed animals, and not much else. I just wish more people were as picky as we are XD

I'd love to cosplay again someday, but I lost my cosplay body years ago. >_< I gained a bunch of weight due to medications. If I can drop 30 lbs I'll think about it.
I was actually at the fabric store the other day, and I couldn't find the Peachfuzz, but I did find Peachskin. It's slightly different now, it's a little more matte and not quite as silky, but it could still be useful.

wearing that costume must have been such an amazing experience.
Black Lady is cool because she is evil yet she captures angelic beauty, elegance, and sexiness all at once, and judging from this picture you managed to capture that as well. I only wish I could have seen it in person.

It was a very fun costume to wear, I'll give you that.
And if you wanted to see it in person, you'd have to go to some conventions.

Oh, no, you didn't. Sorry if I came across defensive. I didn't mean to be either.
And I hear you about wanting to go to more conventions. I would totally go to so many more if I had the time and money.

*flail* That fabric is so perfect!!!! I'm always sad when people just go straight black with her dress. All that searching and extra work totally paid off!

It's an effect you only get with silk velvet. I'm glad I didn't compromise on the material. ^__^
