I guess the fact that everything's going down now means I will soon finally get to find out what the Prince's plan is and maybe even who he is?

At least I know have proof of what I knew about the Prince being a good guy.

Aye, and you'll soon find out even who the "Prince" is.

"It was all Burner could do but flail about"
*All Burner could do was flail about
or *It was all Burner could do to flail about
or *Burner could do nothing but flail about

β€œI believe the answer would be apparent, Prince Eclipse…”
Called it. Accidentally called it, from the beginning. Although, that leaves me slightly confused. Did they do all that work for him, and just betray him?

Good chapter. I'm a sucker for a good fight scene, but that was brilliant.

My english there is technically correct, it's just a lesser used connotation. You see it more in older texts...

You understood next chapter.

Glad you enjoyed the fight scene. It was rather difficult to get the flow just right...

What it is is confusing. It sounds like he's doing everything BUT flailing. I don't know. Given that you're a writer, I'll believe you, but I still don't like it.

Time travel commenting, I see.

The flow was great. I actually sort of expected moments where I would forget who the focus was, and that never happened.

Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to reading how this turns out. I like that you kept the fight fluid with the combatants teaming up and/or switching between who they faced, on both sides, instead of just having them fight one-on-one separately.

Thank you. With the exception of Junkyard/Filigree, it didn't make sense to keep it focused purely one on one. Plus I desperately wanted to capture the movie-like imagery I had in my head, where in some big action scenes like that, the camera will follow the flow of the action, rather than one individual, constantly swapping the perspective around fluidly...

You captured the chaos of battle while still demonstration the teamwork and order that the teams had practiced. Bravo! I have to admit, I was caught off guard by Eclipse being the Prince, but I feel I might have, at least, judged Kaos's character accurately. Judging from past comments made by Kaos, the whole point of his team was to defend the Ponylands as he knew that the current team had become stagnant and overconfident. I still think Discord is in some way tied into Kaos's team and eagerly await the revelation of what lead to Discord be re imprisoned.(Or perhaps not imprisoned, put in stasis to preserve his life due to wounds sustained in the war with the imps and the nightmare as I can't imagine him turning against Fluttershy.)

Actually no, Eclipse is not "The" prince. Kaos was simply being overly polite when he referred to Eclipse as "prince". Next chapter will have more information in regards to this (it would have to, we're nearing the conclusion of book 2). Beyond that, I won't state what happens in the long run, as more things have yet to come out.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Gah! So much going on! It's all coming to a head and the suspense is killing me. I can't believe the team lost though. It seemed pretty even at first and then they even made a little headway especially that moment when they beat the crap out of Junkyard but then it's like things just turned suddenly. However, after seeing that not only does Kaos and his team not intend to kill the element bearers and is also now going to fight Eclipse it still leaves me wondering what the heck is he planning to do anyway? Why fight the bearers at all? Just to prove you could beat them? Does it have to do with those other elements? And what the heck is Skillet up to? I was waiting for him to come charging in and save the day with whatever it is he had. Apparently he's a bit late though. And then we still have Discord who I can't wait to see what he will do when he breaks out of his stone prison. And dang it Burner quit doing things like scanning guards to make sure they're ok it's making me like you more.

Also, and maybe I just need to reread previous chapters to check this, but is this the first time Kaos has actually shown what he can do? I mean aside from being incredibly smart and what not. Oh this was such a good chapter and an epic battle scene even if the team I was rooting for lost. Keep up the epic work and I look forward to what happens next. Also waiting to see if Ultrapony is still even "there" at this point and perhaps he could rebel against the Nightmare or something. So many possibilities, so many questions, so much great action and chaos!*trembles with excitement*

*chuckles* Yeah, this was only part 1 o the big throwdown, but this was the clash I've been hinting at since the very beginning of Book 2. Glad it was epic enough for you. Technically, what I tried to get across is that the teams are technically balanced, but the ladies were a little complacent. They'd gotten so used to being "the best" that this is the first true challenge at their level to appear since they beat the Nightmare. Tho of your litany of questions, the ONLY one I'll respond to is about Skillet, because he's in the dark as much as everyone else. Oh, and don't worry about Burner, he gets a few more moments to shine.

Kaos didn't show off his abilities much in the past, but did show off some of what he could do when he first met Alto. he also explained what his powers were.

I'll see you next time for the fight's continuation.

Wait is skillet Gonna be one of the Male elements? I assume zilch cant be.

And if skillet IS one of the male elements, does that mean we will see the return of Ironjaw? because that would be awesome, and Trixie did get a new horn, but that was the spirits of the Previous six, so it might not be analogous here.

I'm not going to reveal where this goes... you will have to wait and see, and to answer you one way or another would give plot points away at this very late stage.

(Takes a sip of pomegranate juice) Ah that's good antioxidants. Do you know the story of the Persephone of the vegetation, daughter of Demeter who ate or sucked upon the pomegranate seeds and how she had to be stuck in hell with hades as his wife for three to four months at a time? There are always devils in the details and it is the winter of the stories discontent, savvy?

Last thoughts: Saw most of this coming from the get go and though like you said I wasn't entirely correct, but I was darn well close enough. Too bad I ate the popcorn watching the movie Ice Age 4 Continental Drift for the first time, at least the fruit juice makes up for it. Now is a time for the special 'KEY' moments to happen. Note to self: get more popcorn before next chapter is posted.

Oh and what are your views on the recent Equestria Girls thing flying about the fandom, good, bad or neutral? I'm trying to stay neutral mostly, but I dislike it somewhat.

TCPolecat7 In reply to DarkonShadows [2013-05-15 05:16:11 +0000 UTC]

Aye, some of it you called, but I'm intentionally not revealing everything, and there's still more to go in the next few chapters.

As for the Equestria Girls thing, I honestly see it as aimed at the tween girls mostly, and it's a pretty standard/average looking thing for that set. It's definitely not aimed at us older fans. While I'm staying neutral on it, I can say I disliked the animation style (sorry, but DHX's flash style did not convert well from cute pudgy ponies to super-skinny tween girls with twig arms a'la Bratz and Winx) and the obvious inclusion of a romantic "interest" for Twilight. But those are the very things that tell me this is aimed at the more traditional MLP fans, and not us.

Levia-the-Dragon [2013-05-15 01:55:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, right before the Griffin attack was maybe not the best time to put that plan into motion to get those masculine elements and their bearers going, given that it'd set up the princesses for a fall and incapacitate the Harmony bearers. I mean maybe that is the plan to give them the room to shine but it still seems like a bad idea when there's dragons, Eclipse and Goldtalon's army to contend with.

Very cool fight though, varied and interesting, changing up who is fighting who... it did maybe go on a tad long because it was pretty much all fighting with nothing to break it up, but what was there was all well-done action.

TCPolecat7 In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2013-05-15 05:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Aye, I did worry it was dragged out a little bit, but the constant "partner swapping" in the brawl necessitated some odd little changes. I tried to make it fluid tho, with the feeling of following the flow of action, rather than an individual.

Well, that was certainly weird. Kaos and all the elements of Chaos (or whatever the male elements are going to be called) beat up the elements of harmony before the big bad dragon attack. Yet the Prince has forseen this situation. Hmmmm.

Maybe we'll have a Double Element quadruple rainbow finish, and the Prince will take his place among royalty? Lulu and Celly could certainly use a lighthearted prankster party to ease some of their PTSD.
