Description
*Edited: Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I changed a few things, from the butterfly to the eyes that were too dark for a personification of spring. I also went back to the original coloring I had, which was frendlier and a little rose-tinted. This is the image I finally submitted._____________________
I've redone this ([link] ) completely because I want to submit it to a contest and it wasn't nearly large enough, so I repainted it from scratch.
I'm much happier with this than with the original version, but I'd like to make it the best piece it can be, and for that I need feedback on what I can improve. So please, go ahead and tear it apart!

this is so amazingly beautiful~
there is so much attention to detail, from the individual pieces of hair, grass, and the pattern of the butterfly's wings...The skin is also very nice, even though it seems simple there's so much change of color and lighting
What program do you use?
Seriously...I wanted to start screaming when I saw this because the beauty of it hurt so much XD;;

It's absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of one of the portraits I saw in the Metropolitan Museum of Art today. Very smooth, pale skin, large eyes, garden setting, etc. It isn't the same, I know, because you're trying for a different idea but if you had painted this during that time (about 18th or 19th century) then maybe it would in the museum right now.

This is beautiful! I love her hair and the entwined flowers look so natural in it. The enitre piece is breathtaking and at first i could see nothing wrong with it. After seeing your request for critique I went back to look at it again. The one bit that bothers me is her chest. The shadow seperating it from her sholder doesn't outline enough and it just continues (rather blurrily) to where her breast would start.
Hope it helps! Good luck in your compitition and after seeing some of your other works I can saftley say you are a wonderful artist!
xx

I do think this one is much lovelier, and I LOVE that you changed the eyes from blue to green. I think it suits Spring so much better. I also love the coloring and especially the shading, much more than the first. I love the nest, how you added more variety and made it more earthy, definitely more springish.
Here are some critiques/suggestions/opinions, if you want them:
I think the 'nest' would be better with more green. I love the added brown, but I think you should intensify the green (in saturation and abundance) to balance it out.
I like the mouth so much more on the first one. The glossiness and slightly-open pose of the mouth in the first version carries worlds of innocence, which I really associate with spring. I think the paler, more skin-toned color of lips suits Spring better, also.
I like how full of color the first one is -- in comparing the two, the new version seems a little washed-out. I think she needs a bit more pink-orange all over her skin.
The hair -- I love the new version, how very natural and plant-ish it looks, and the wonderful little blossoms! But the darker color and less flyaways makes her look more serious and less excitable. I think if you added a few wild flyaways or lightened the color somewhat you'd be able to keep the new detail without losing the winsomeness of the first one.
And most of all, the eyes: In the first, they are much larger, with longer, sweeping lashes (rather than curled upward) and more shadow underneath. The shadow makes them look more round, and when you take away that shadow you take away a lot of her youth. Also, in the first version her eyes are more closed, which makes her look content and relaxed. The second one looks a little too alert to me.
Mind you, I love both as is, but you asked for critique! So there you go.

Mh... let me think. Make her eyes green, change the background to red or trees. Get ride of those flowers change them for leaves. Say byebye to butterfly and her hair could be brown... well then it looks more like autumn. But still very nice work! I faved the other one a long time ago.
