Description
I had so many requests for a tutorial, so here is a step by step process of how I draw the characters in my comics. As you see, it's rather simple but I hope this will be helpful to you!
And by the way, this is one drawing from my latest Kuroshitsuji comic, like you probably noticed. ^^

That's right I use SAI. ^^
Just browse for "PaintTool SAI" and you'll find a site where you can buy it.

I just got Paintool Sai the other day, can you please tell me more about this opacity lock? It sounds interesting and useful.

Tenshi-no-Hikari In reply to Kiaraz [2011-01-23 10:02:07 +0000 UTC]
"Opacity lock" locks the content of the layer and you can change it's colour by painting over it.

"Layer clip" means you can draw on that layer only in those areas overlapping with the content of the layer below.

π: 0 β©: 1
Tenshi-no-Hikari In reply to KyokoandKagra [2011-01-22 23:27:31 +0000 UTC]
I make it with a filter in Photoshop. I have a German version, so I don't know how this filter is called in English. Maybe I should make an extra tutorial about how I do the background?

I make it with a filter in Photoshop You just have to choose 2 colours and apply that filter.

I do the gradient trick too! ^^ Except that I create a new layer on Overlay mode clipped to its base color, and use the airbrush to brush a gradient over it But your way seems interesting, I may give it a try sometime! Gradient makes the drawings so much nice looking, doesn't it?

this was enlightening, I use an older version of photoshop (elements) so I may not be able to follow exactly, but I got a good idea!
(things that be hard for just me to do:
1) actually draw in PS since I dont have a tablet, or tablet skills.
and 2) because im forced to use PS on a laptop, with a touchpad...sadly I think I got a little good at it, but not good enough to draw, just color and edit. LOL )
Great tutorial!
