Description
I had so many requests for a tutorial, so here is a step by step process of how I draw the characters in my comics. As you see, it's rather simple but I hope this will be helpful to you!
And by the way, this is one drawing from my latest Kuroshitsuji comic, like you probably noticed. ^^

How do you get the line art to look at the color of its outlined color at the end? for example, the guy on the left has white hair, and when you started it was outlined in black but when you were done the outline of the hair was darker and looked similar to the color of the hair. how do you do that?

I change the colour of the lineart by locking the lineart-layer and paint it over with any colour.

what's the purpose of locking a layer?

If you lock a layer you can colour only the layer's content like for example the lines.

THIS IS SO AWESOME. I never knew you used a simpler painting program, and not Photoshop. I will definitely use this as a reference and try this Paint Tool SAI. 8D

When you're painting on the multiply layer, how do you choose what colours to use for the shades? (Since Multiply alters it) or do you just use the same colour as you did for the flats?

Thank you so much for the tutorial. This is very helpful.^^
I've heard that multiply and layer clip is only in Photoshop in CS5. Is that what you used?

Bluesette In reply to AzurethePanda [2011-01-22 19:54:42 +0000 UTC]
Multiply has been in Photoshop since at least version 7, and that's a loooong time ago... I'm not sure how long Layer Clipping has been around, but I know I used it in cs2.

I wasn't sure if it was the same function. Just making sure.
I have Photoshop elements and haven't used CS2. Thanks for the help.^^
Where would the Layer Clipping option be located?

Bluesette In reply to AzurethePanda [2011-01-23 15:38:24 +0000 UTC]
I don't know if there's an actual button or option for it, I just alt-click the line between two layers and the top layer will be linked to the one below. In older versions you have to select the top layer and hit ctrl+g (not too sure about the hotkey, my memory is a bit blurry :'D)

My artwork is very slow with SAI for some reason. Maybe all I needed was a few tips on how to color. Thanks! c:

That'll be so helpful fer me, I'm so amature on SAI.
And I totally love how you say 'colour' instead if 'color'. I don't feeel alone when I spell it the British/England-ish way.

Color doesn't have a U in it. At least in English.

In certain areas they pronounce and spell it as colour. I'm pretty sure Canada does and some European countries.

Actually, some people do spell color "colour", and flavor "flavour". I believe it's a UK thing.

Colour is the British English spelling of color ;3
