I hate to tell you this, but I have collected dead and injured birds to draw from. I also am facinated by their feather and wing structure. I prefer birds alive, and love to see their actions. I haven't put up the drawings that I did from a dove that are all different aspects of the feather. I did it 25 years ago when my son had a paper route, and found a dove thrashed in a windstorm. We nursed it back to health and set it free. I love your work!

Well i can totaly understand that approach, i have just had a quick look around your gallery and your eye for detail clearly shows. Birds
and how they fly has allways fascinated me too, right from as early as i can remember. I used to draw and paint a bit too, and mostly birds. the camera has replaced that now and is fantastic tool for capturing birds, revealing so many beautiful and interesting aspects of there behaviour and best of all how they fly. wonderfull story of the Dove you nursed to health, are you going to sub some, im very interested in seeing them having heard the story
wonderfull gallery will go back and have a proper look around soon. those Crow drawings are feather perfect.

The lighting you captured on this one is top notch! Really exquisite photo, this would be a great reference for wing structure and feather placement.

Cheers!!!!! I got quite a few frames of this bird but this shot stood out, Its great to see what role each layer of feathers do, from the leading
edge to the primarys.
