The reason you get that free space in the upper and lower parts of the pano , is quite simple. The stitch program does not have anything to stitch in those places. Keep in mind, when you take a pano , let's say a horizontal one , take the horizontal shots and as you progress to the middle , add some vertical ones so when you stitch , the software has what to add in the places you see empty

I figured there wasn't information from the top and middle, but didn't think to take vertical photos to fix that.
