Description So it took me all day to do, but here it is at last. A full tutorial from paper to deviantart, how I draw, scan, edit, color AND shade. If you want to see a live version of how to do this, please see the video tutorial: [link]

SORRY FOR THE BLOODY HUGE FILE! YOU'LL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT, TO MAKE IT A REASONABLE SIZE! I'm really sorry about that. . . to resize it, I'd have to change all 48 slides, and then it's hard to read the photoshop text. geez, I suck at this.

Man, this was thurough, clearly explained, and very helpful to even dimwitted people such as myself to understand. But most importantly, it didn't use the pen tool... AT ALL.

Your tutorial will generally work for below your version, because I have 4.0 and everything you used seems to be there (Minus the all layers option on the paint can) while it doesn't have the pen tool.

Thanks. There are some points on here I want to try out for fun.

That was (by far) the most comprehensive tutorial I have ever seen, and I can imagine how time-consuming it must have been to put this together! I learned things, and I thank you! You are amazing! And funny!

Right now, I'm only stuck with a regular pencil and a pen.

Anyways, the tutorial was entertaining and pretty neat!

WEll I used to work in good ol' 5.5 XD So I know the differences: 5.5 doesn't have the full view window. But it has all the options: the paint bucket "use all layers", the Multiply blending mode, and all the other things. The short cut keys may be a tad different, but I think even those are the same n.n

jack07 In reply to ThirdPotato [2008-08-07 02:59:52 +0000 UTC]

hmm well i have just V5.0

i am hoping that there are enough simmilarities between them and what you said 5.5 has

blending mode i have to look into that sometime....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to jack07 [2008-08-07 03:14:53 +0000 UTC]

Yup, I believe they all have blending modes; right above the layers

jack07 In reply to ThirdPotato [2008-08-07 04:41:53 +0000 UTC]

OKAY FINE, I WON'T FAV THIS

But I'll leave this comment:

I need to practice some of that, smart, time saving... Though, Photoshop kinda hates me when it comes to drawing... Sai FTW :3

That's a damn good tutorial fyuvix. For me it feels like a review but there was stuff I learned in it too. Some of it is surprisingly simple. Like I never knew I could have the paint bucket use all layers. I always just brushed it in by hand whenever I had closed line work that I didn't wanna draw over. You probrably saved me hours on that tip alone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to Kazecat [2008-08-07 02:36:49 +0000 UTC]

XD Thanks, thats the biggest tip I have to offer that 90% of most people don't know. XD I keep trying to convince my profs to use it, but they keep refusing, insisting its faster to brush it all in *rolls eyes* XD

Awesome tutorial! I usually just shade with a darker tone of a color...but this just makes things easier! Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to gerardway156 [2008-08-07 02:06:10 +0000 UTC]

Ja, totally; I used to do the whole darker tone thing, which is still a great way to shade, don't get me wrong, but it is way faster to shade this way n.n I learned it from a person's tutorial in my faves, and worked with it.

gerardway156 In reply to ThirdPotato [2008-08-07 02:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah and I never even bothered trying the whole hue/saturation thing to get rid of blue line work....I just kept brightening and contrasting it which made it look crappier XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to gerardway156 [2008-08-07 02:15:19 +0000 UTC]

XDD Ja, that was a big revalation for me when I figured that one out too. I used to just try like you did, messing with contrast and brightness, and levels. n.n
