Description
Just a scrappy little reference on character design. This is sorta a watered down version of what I go through when designing a character. I do stick figures to decide body shape, use some photo reference, or go off of a person I have in mind, the referencing other artists is done subconsciously, and I rarely ever stick with the very first design I come up with. This one, I was helping ~OtterGrl come up with an old crotchety hick-town black rat character for her Dirty Towners comic: [link]Related content

I love how your demos not only apply to anthros, but to ANY character. (human, cyborg, etc.) Thank you for approaching them this way!

Thanks! I'm glad you noticed n.n A lot of people assume that just cuz I use anthros as my examples, that the same message still applies to "character design" on the whole XD I just find it easiest to express my ideas through anthros

It seems a lot of people tend to forget that. Anthro artists adapt human character tutorials all the time, so why not the reverse? A lot of people aren't gaining knowledge because of that bias.

Thanks! n.n It's true, I think people think when someone says to "reference" something, that means to copy it XD Which is also why I made a whole tutorial on how to use reference [link] XDD

It would appear that your gallery covers quite a lot of issues that I've always been too lazy to draw out myself! Kudos, and thanks for all that, these are great guides and reference sheets!
