Description
*sigh* I really don't want to change his story (since I'm plotting something with the fountain of youth) so I guess Ram has to apply as a Forgotten Character ;A;Finally, the application for my OC in GC is done! 8D
[Name] Rampion Bellflower
[Title] Witch of West Tower
[Gender] Male
[Race] Human. [Witch by contract only]
[Age] 117 (looks about 20... thinks around 14)
[Date of Birth] Somewhere during Spring
[Country] Iqurish.
The country famous for its rumor of a fountain of youth somewhere within it's territory, as well as the high number of magic users that are born every year.
[Job] Witch
There are three ways of audience with him: 1. Magic mirrors/pools that connects to mirrors/pools inside the tower. 2. Send a letter to the mailbox at the base of the tower to invite the witch to your home, he checks that about once a week. 3. Actually going to the witch's tower and hope he's home and in the mood to take requests.
[Skills]
- Needlework and Weaving
In fact, it's probably the only 'real' skill that Rampion has. Even though he lost the power to weave gold he is still extremely handy with textile crafts, he has a habit of knitting and stitching small things when he's stressed.
- Hair Care (?)
Not as much as a skill as a necessity/hobby. Rampion has one whole floor of hair care stuff in his tower and a selection of about 73 brushes and combs. Though honestly, with that much hair on his head he probably needs them. He prides himself in his shiny baby-soft hair and lack of split ends, even though his hair isn't normal hair to begin with.
-Magic
While he is only a witch by name, he used to actually have magic. He had the power of gold transformation and high capability to learn spells. However, after losing his magic all he is left with is the inborn magic that is in his hair and the rudimentary 'hearing' and 'sight' of a magic user. So basically he may be able to see a fairy ring but it doesn't mean he can harness the power from one.
[Original Story] Sorta Original Story...? Main Story: Rapunzel; Sub-stories: Rapunzstiltskin, Fountain of Youth, the Golden Goose, and Witch of the West
[Personality]
-Easygoing
Supposedly living for a century and some more mellows out a person. Rampion doesn't seem to have the capability to be angry at someone or hold grudges. He would probably just huff and puff for a while before deciding to 'let bygones be bygones'. As long as it doesn't have to do with owing the tower anything he mostly doesn't mind if you tease/prank/mess with him.
-Nice
Sounds stupid, but yes, he's very nice. Due to being alone in the tower for so damn long, Rampion greatly appreciates living companies and people he can talk to. So he tries to please them within his means and help people out. Especially cute looking creatures and people, he's a total softie when it comes to adorable things.
-Conservative
Blame the extremely out-dated books he read for the last century. As far as Rampion's concerned, people should never show off their bare skin to anyone except their spouse, women shouldn't raise their voices, there shouldn't be physical intimacy between non-family members.... etc.
-Patient
And its no joke. There is probably not many on this green earth that can beat Rampion in terms of patience. Considering how he waited a hundred something years for his own hair to grow long enough to reach the tower ground. Rampion also kind of get lost... a lot, and its not uncommon for him to just take a seat somewhere under a tree to take a day-long break while 'trying to recall the path'.
-Gullible
The not-so-nice way f saying 'trusting'. However, it's as easy to feed misinformation to Rampion as taking candy from a baby. He'll literally believe everything someone tells him, so long as he hasn't already learned about it from a more 'reliable' source; it could have been from some penny reader, an old man by the well, the frigging voices from the woods...
-Fearless
Or the lack of awareness is more like it. Since Rampion has lived so long, and he doesn't exactly die easily (he's terribly lucky to have lived this long since he left the tower), Rampion kind of stumbles into various situations with equal enthusiasm. He's not yet seen much of the world outside of yellowed book pages, and he's rather curious to see more.
-Anti-human
With good reasons, Rampion doesn't trust humans. In fact, if it's not because of his 'work' he would have nothing to do with them at all. Plus, according to his copy of 'A Witch's Manual' (about 230 years old copy), witches are supposed to instill fear and awe into mortal humans and keep them away from their territories. However, as 'mean' as he tries to be, there is just no way Rampion would ever turn away a freezing child in the cold or a limping old lady in the night. Also, his definition of 'humans' are very vague, and seems to shift along the lines of 'nice people' and 'bad people' all the time.
[Story] [Warning: Its really frigging long]
A long, long time ago in the country of Iqurish, there spouts a small fountain in the center of somewhere. It has the power to grant eternal life, so it's drinker would live for as long as the earth itself, even if against their wish. In another part of the country was the daughter of a sorceress, persecuted by the king of the kingdom because she was pregnant with the late Prince's child out of wedlock. While fleeing, the sorceress was injured and found herself dying by a small fountain. The fountain told her that if she drank out of its surging waters she would be cured of injuries, but will never be able to die until the end of time. Desperate for life, and to sustain the growing baby inside her womb, the sorceress drank.
Some time into the future, a wizard that lives in the Western Tower -once owned by an infamously wicked witch of the West that eventually disappeared without a trace- found a bundled infant in his rapunzel field. Because the wizard can see, he can tell that the blue-eyed child was magic. Afraid for the child's fate if he were to land into the wrong hands, the wizard took the child into the tower and locked the door from the outside. The child, named Rampion Bellflower after the plants that he nestled in until he was found, grew extremely slowly. Unbeknownst to anyone, due to his mother's immortal blood, Rampion ages at the rate of once a moon cycle in comparison to a regular human. However, the child was loved by the Earth, and he was blessed with the innocence of a child despite the time flow of reality.
So Rampion lived with the wizard in the tower, the only entrance and exit that was used was the window. However, the wizard had forbade Rampion from leaving the tower, telling him stories of the wickedness of mankind. Decades passed, and the old wizard died of old age, leaving Rampion alone in the tower. One day, a couple that lives near the deceased wizard's rapunzel field snuck into the garden for some rapunzel plants. The wife recently had a miscarriage, but was delusional and insists that she is still pregnant. When they were in the garden, they overheard Rampion singing from the window of the tower. Enamored with the beautiful blonde haired child with the beautiful voice, the delusional wife convinced herself that Rampion is the child from her 'pregnancy' and told her husband "I must have my Rampion or I fear I shalt die!". The husband loves his wife very much, and he too has been yearning for a child in their small family. So the man started to visit the tower until he convinced Rampion that they are indeed his real parents, and they Rampion should come down from the tower and live with them in the village.
Against the old wizard's warning, Rampion left the tower and moved in with the couple in the small village as though he's really their son. The village was small, and they had all they needed. For a while, they were happy. However, the miller's daughter -one of the only children in the village- accidentally spilled the secret that she kept for Rampion, and suddenly the whole village found out that Rampion had the power to weave gold. Crazed and enchanted by the prospect of infinite riches, the humans of the village was taken over by greed. They captured Rampion, and cut him open. Thinking that there would be a large chunk of gold inside of Rampion, they ignored the child's screaming as they slice apart his flesh. However, instead of a giant lump of gold, they found a shinning flower instead. Upon pulling out the flower from somewhere next to Rampion's heart, the near-dead child took the chance to escape. Shambling out of the village, with the villagers chasing after him, Rampion somehow made it back to the tower.
It wasn't long before he realizes that not only is he dying, he has lost his magic. The shinning flower that was taken away from him turns out to be the concentration of magic inside his body, and like the old wizard predicted, it had fallen into the wrong hands. It was between death's door and the locked door of the tower that the old wizard's last magic revealed itself. The briars that surrounds the tower sprang to life upon the completion of the spell. The old wizard's last magic binded Rampion to the tower physically and spiritually. Rampion became the 'Witch of West Tower' through a contract, it sustained his life, and as long as he's inside the tower the tower's familiar Rubus Briar would protect him.
The villagers eventually retreated, leaving a very injured and betrayed Rampion as the new witch of the area. Due to the double existence of a former blessed child and a tower witch, Rampion changed into something slightly less human and still not quite witch. Nature stopped loving him, and animals flee upon spotting Rampion. All plants besides the briar stopped growing within a certain radius around the tower, and Rampion destroyed his voice terribly during the time he screamed for mercy.
In the solitude of the tower, unable to leave it because he doesn't have magic anymore, Rampion spent decades in the tower along with all the collected items that already occupied the tower since the last witch's time.
At the age of 117 (appearance wise around 20), his hair has finally grown the length enough for him to use as a ladder to scale down the tower on his own without the tower's protective magic keeping him inside. However, he still has to return to the tower every second new moons if he were to leave or risk death. Still, he has started a search for his magic so he can become 'whole' once more.
[Forgotten Realm Add On] Around 50 years ago, Rampion fell into the Forgotten Realm because he spent too long frozen in a story as he waits for a way out in the tower. However, he only just recently woke up. Still unaware that 50 years has already passed, Rampion's more concerned about finding his way back to the tower as fast as possible without any idea that he's a forgotten. Yea, the gloomy misty background and lack of life didn't ring any bells.
[Familiar] Rubus Briar
Or simply called 'Briar' by Rampion. According to Rampion the plant that wraps around the tower is the only 'natural organism that loves me'. Since the briar's thorns would retract when he touches them, and responses to his call verbally or other. The briar is almost always bearing fruits, flowering, and withering at the same time, but on different sections of its vines. It has no magical properties, it's only duty is to prevent outsiders from entering the tower, and to keep the witch company through the long decades they have and will spend together.
[Reason for being a forgotten character]
Apparently I need one?
I'm mildly confused, but since Rampion's stuck in the tower for so long without outside world contact it's not that surprising if he ended up in the forgotten realm and stayed there (as long as the tower is there too) without noticing it at all...
[Notes]
- Rampion is 5'6"... and he trips when he tries to wear heels. Actually, he trips even without the heels so it shouldn't really matter either way.
- Rampion has absolutely horrible sense of direction and time, become stuck in a tower for decades does that...
- Rampion has no idea exactly when his own birthday is, he might have remembered that long ago but sort of forgot it during one point or another.
- He has a really nasty scar that runs down from his heart to his abdomen from when he was cut open, so he has a thing against showing his chest. Not that he likes showing skin in general.
- When outdoors he wears at least three layers no matter the weather conditions, but he's more likely to wear less when he's just lazing around in the tower.
- It takes him 5 whole hours to wash, dry and tend to his hair... at least he doesn't do that everyday.
-Rampion is terribly clumsy, mostly because of his braid tripping his own feet, and partly because he doesn't get much exercise in the tower besides climbing stairs.
- While being stuck in the tower, he read every single book (there were thousands) in the tower... unfortunately they were all published more than a hundred years ago and some of them were of unknown origins. So his 'ideals' are pretty out of date... he still thinks that people shouldn't show skin as much as possible for the sake of virtuous marriage and stuff.
- Oddly, he really likes mangosteens.
- Rampion really, really wants a black cat as a pet to complete his 'witch' imagery, but since animals (non-enchanted ones) avoids him like the plague he just settles with making plush dolls of animals.
- Yes, he makes plushies.
- Rampion doesn't actually own anything besides his hair ties and a few random relics and clothes here and there in the tower, everything else technically belongs to the tower.
- By contract of being the Witch of the tower, Rampion has to continuously to recollect/lend out magical relics that the tower has to increase the value of items within the tower. That's mostly what he's been doing ever since he was able to leave the tower: going far and wide to recollect overdue magical items.
- There's a giant wine cellar inside the tower full of various types of liquor, which Rampion still thinks is just juice. Basically his tolerance is incredible, he can probably out-drink anyone he meets.
- He's also naturally resistant to most magic, potions, and poison. It comes with having the fountain of life in his blood.
- Rampion is very discriminating between someone's animal form and their human form, and since he's never seen most 'real' animals he would attempt to touch and hug them at sight.
If you want to character chain to Rampion via magical items, note me! 8D

Lmao yeah, before Ram was hated by animals (back in his early, century-early childhood) he tried to keep pets. But the cat never got near the tower b/c it was smart, but the kitty got eaten up by a book, the puppy's bones was later found inside a man-eating treasure box, and all the birds he tried to keep disappeared. Basically the tower is vicious. xD Briat himself is pretty docile unless the intrude has ill-intentions.
