Description
September 4th 2007[link]
Well, it has been a year since Steve passed away.
wow...a year.... :/
Yesterday Animal Planet made an 8 hours special of his best show episodes. I watched some memorable ones
Watching preservation programs is not as fun as used to be....T-T
But as long as there are good preservers around the world, I'm glad enough.
I sure miss that guy....
Croacky!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve Irwin was one of my favorite life preservers.
I was pretty much shocked and sad with the news that he passed away today.
His show was a real inspiration for me and more than that, I admired his genuine Enthusiasm!
I believe most of people that don't understand his passion probably are thinking things like: "He was mortal after all...."
He wasn't proving that he was better than animals nor anything like it! It was about respect.
And with his death it can be proved that life is unpredictable! Being killed by the sting of a stingray! The most uncertain animal to be killed by...
I'm pretty sure Steve took all the precautions but somethings....simply happen!
And I'm mostly proud of him because he lived each day of his life with the same enthusiams he always had! Not only for the show, but for his family and friends!
Amen for that!
And yeah....Crocs rules, Steve! And you too!
Rest in Peace!
I couldn't believe it, till I saw the news reports. A stingray...didn't see that coming.
(sips a 40) one for me (pours out the rest) and one for the croc hunter.
Yes, a very great tribute. And it really was such a freak accident!! I mean like only 17 people have been killed by sting rays since 1960.
Yeah, but it wasn't just anywhere he got stung by the stingray. It was right at his heart! Well, at least they'll have intertainment in heaven. ^^*
But yeah, he was cool. ^^* He's the only person I know who would actually say "Criauky! What a beute!" (sp?)
glad to see I'm not the only one out there who loved his zeal, enthusiasm and slightly insane eccentricity.
and for those who say "So he was mortal after all" in my opinion, Steve Irwin is now immortal, 9it's just so sad that immortality seems to mean one has to die (slightly) young and tragically.
anyway. I love this piece, for what it stands for and for the obvious care that went into it.
I don't mean to burst your bubble, but I know a thing or two about animal handling (and so do a lot of others) and he was definitely not always handling them very well.
To be stung by a stingray he must've seriously provoked it.
Despite that he was an amusing man, even though he often annoyed the hell out of me because of how he handled animals. But his enthusiasm and passion for it all was indeed very pretty to see despite my aversion to his... general behavior. ^^ So it's cool you made a memorial thing.
yeah I know that! And he knew that too. In a depoyiment he said that every bite, sting and everything else he got was because of his fault. He never guilted any animal.
I'm not blaming the animal or anything XP Just saying that must have been fate or a real bad luck for him to get stung right on his chest provocking an instant death.
Even though he had to be rough to some animals while danddling them...well, it's his life in danger too
Yeaaaah. I think it's great that he had such guts. Must've been more interesting than... you know. Dying in your bed of old age. =/
He actually didn't even touch the Stingray He was swimming above it in shallow water and the Stingray (doing what they do best) was buried under the sand waiting for small fish and the like. Steve didn't see the stingray and vice versa until Steve was right above it. The stingray didn't have time to swim away and reacted the way it did.
Heh, never said it was his fault. He's a cool guy (though still annoying! XD; it's odd how I can find him cool and annoying at the same time!) and he knew what he was doing.
And I was never interested enough to figure out who did what cause it can't be helped now. ^^
kani-za In reply to faramir [2006-09-06 02:09:42 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it wasn't really his fault. It really was an unfortunate accident, but people talk about it as if he had been poking the stingray with a stick. O_o
Stingray attacks may be rare, but not impossible. I live in Costa Rica and all my life I've been warned about those things. Particularly ever since a friend of my father got stung in the leg by one while they were out fishing. What's really a shame and a surprise is that the attack was lethal. If he had been attacked in any other part of the body, he might have survived. ;_;
Yeah. I've seen a helluva lot of sting rays in my life, and you just never think they'll hurt you, after all they run off as soon as you come near them
It is sad...but fitting that he died in his element. I'd be pissed if he'd died of old age on a bed. The man was full of too much life to go out that way. People call him nuts, but I loved that energy about him. That way he admired whatever animal he was facing. Hell, he's the reason I'm working towards a vet degree!
This is a beautiful picture.
This is a really wonderful tribute to Steve Irwin, it's still hard to realize that he's gone now. He'll definitely be sorely missed, he was a wonderful person who really opened people's eyes to the beauty of animals. It was just so unexpected that he'd died, so many people had come to believe he was invincible against what he explored.
Great work tigger-sama, this is a beautiful picture in remembrance of him.
I really found his death tragic considering everything he's done. The things he did weren't at all easy to pull of and most certainly admirable.
I love how you've drawn the animals here and given it a water-colour look. Great job!
I think many people do, that's why his death was mentioned so widely. Thanks for doing the memo. We will all miss him.
