Well, it has been a year since Steve passed away.
wow...a year.... :/
Yesterday Animal Planet made an 8 hours special of his best show episodes. I watched some memorable ones
Watching preservation programs is not as fun as used to be....T-T
But as long as there are good preservers around the world, I'm glad enough.
I sure miss that guy....

Steve Irwin was one of my favorite life preservers.
I was pretty much shocked and sad with the news that he passed away today.
His show was a real inspiration for me and more than that, I admired his genuine Enthusiasm!
I believe most of people that don't understand his passion probably are thinking things like: "He was mortal after all...."
He wasn't proving that he was better than animals nor anything like it! It was about respect.
And with his death it can be proved that life is unpredictable! Being killed by the sting of a stingray! The most uncertain animal to be killed by...
I'm pretty sure Steve took all the precautions but somethings....simply happen!
And I'm mostly proud of him because he lived each day of his life with the same enthusiams he always had! Not only for the show, but for his family and friends!
Amen for that!
And yeah....Crocs rules, Steve! And you too!

well, I wouldn't say he pulled out the stinger. it just got scared and bothered like any other animal could be and something that could be a regular sting, happened to be deadly.
We are not here to judge whose fault was it. It was something that simply happened and may he rest in piece

i want to say what a great pick that is
much better then just his face etc
as this shows what he was fighting for
i have sent a copy of this to Aust Zoo with the
contact deatils here as i think it derserves to be
shared. while i did not known him i met his wife twice
and knew quite a dew divers who knew him as well.
Aust is very sad right now
we lost 3 greats in 7 days
maybe thats why most of Aussie has been covered in
rain someone is sader then us (if you belive in that
crap lol..).

I never really watched stuff with him, but I still respected him and thought he was a cool guy. I was really sad and shocked to hear about him passing away. Beautiful picture in memory of him.

errado! Esse é o tipo de visão errada q muita gente tem quando não conhece toda a carreira e trabalho que eles fez durante a vida dele.
Ele teve um grande carinho e preocupação com a vida animal. Cuidava do Zoológico dele e fazia todo o possivel por ele e colocava sua vida em risco por eles. Sim, é claro q ele ficou famoso pelo programa de crocodilos, q são seus animais favoritos. Mas estamos falando de animais q respondem à puros instintos e em um zoológico eles precisam ter a vida ativa como eles teriam no meio selvagem. Ele nunca manuseou um animal quando ele sabia q o mesmo estava estressado ou arredio. Se preocupava com a segurança de seu publico e do proprio animal.
Se vc realmente conhece o trabalho dele, nao apenas o 'caçador de crocodilos', mas seus trabalhos como ambientalista, tudo bem, respeito sua opinião! Se não, por favor, reflita antes de dizer algo assim.

i'm really glad that you did this...I grew up watching the croc hunter and i dont think that it's right how people treat him for caring about animals and trying to give them a better life than having to worry about being turned into a purse! >.<

Yea, it was a big shock in the newspapers to hear about it... ; A ; I liked the guy, although I didn't watch his shows recently, I still remember seeing them when I was younger. I do admire his enthusiasm too, and how he does his way with animals to teach the viewers.
Some pro animalist in the newspapers was saying he deserved it for the way he treated animals. But I don't think it's bad since he doesn't abuse them or anything, he doesn't harm them from what I know. And some of them are because of work (like he needed to catch snakes once since they're dangerous and on the loose)
Rest in Peace Steve. All the best to Terri now too.

I have kind of been saying this to all the great Steve art out there so I hope you don't mind: There are alot of people on DA who are making things to show thier respect to him. Then there are some who are flipping out and yelling at those who are trying to express themselves. Well I know this may sound like I am a freak but I have a great English teacher: Mr. Allison, and he made my class read a poem about a man in the woods who comes across two paths. I know your like what the hell does this have to do with Steve Irwin. Well in all reality this man is talking about a choice in life that he had to make up. He is standing there thinking about which path to take. He looks down as far as he can on each path. One has been trodden over many times and is worn to the dirt and dust. The other with tall grass and no tracks to leave the ground bare. He ponders, should he follow the others or take the road less traveled? Now I am sure that Steve knew what he was doing and his wife knew what she was getting into. If she could see down one of the paths then maybe she would have choosen differently but you can only see about one foot in front of you and well thats what happens. Well in the end he took the road less traveled and it made all the difference in his life. I owe this huge leason in life all to Mr. Allison, without which I would be clueless in this. Now I know everyone has his or her opinion in this matter, but we should all show some respect and get along just to mourn for the pour soul. And well that is all I have to say, hope I didn't bore you to death.

This is beautifully done, and one of the more subtle tributes I've seen. I love how it shows not just the croc, but other animals as well. Beautiful colors and style. I really love this one.
