This is a special piece for me with a bit of a story to go with it. Earlier this year I attended BOOMCON in Costa Rica. I posted about my wonderful experience there and, in particular, my unexpected meeting with an amazing talent by the name of John Timms . When I met John I was completely blown away by the work he showed me. I immediately saw that this guy had what it takes to be a major talent in this industry. Since our meeting, Ive been working on getting John some mainstream work with the "Big 2". So far the reception has been splendid. I then decided to take the tiger by the tail and have John do a piece on spec that I would then ink and present to Marvel, something to show them what a finished product might look like from John. What you see here is our first collaboration of what I hope to be many. I truly believe that John is going to be a household name in this industry and I intend to do everything I can to facilitate that. I cant wait to see this guy shine!!Pencils by John Timms, inks by me.

You, sir are an awesome man and a true good guy in the bussiness. Working towards getting good people into the bussiness like that and do it with the same commitment as you do, is to be respected. Working to keep the bussiness at its best any ways you can, is the way to go and you are a true showman, of how to do that! Much respect from me.
Also I can see WHY you have fallen for this guy as much as you have. His style is really something special and also new. There's a hint of Ramos in there and that is means to be a good thing, when coming from me.
I just got another artist to start watching, all thanks to you... Nice job both of you.

Tim, i have followed JohnΒ΄s work for quite a while now,Β and i totally agree that he is one talented son of a gun, the other day i was cheking his stuff after a while and found this, and curious about the collaboration i followed the link here, man, this story just blew me away.....i find it so Β inspiring, being myself an artist andΒ aspiring to the comic industry, that a well stablished artist like yourself helps in such a kind way another one, just says a lot of you as a person, i was already a fan of your work, and now im a fan of you!!!, respect allthe way!!!

hey there! I just wondered. Has this led to work in the comic industry for john timms? i love his work (yours as well) and have just noticed he hasnt been posting. i remembered you said something along the lines of "gonna help him in whatever way possible" which led me here. so i hope that means he's just super busy and doesn't have time to post here! his work is very energetic... huge fan.

This piece is a great example of how comic art can change in small ways from Penciling to Inking. Very inspiring for a young aspiring artist like myself.

What makes him so good? I'm not dissing- I'm just trying to see what you see.

What makes Humberto Ramos good? Skottie Young? Francisco Herrera? These are all guys who do work with a similar flavor, fan favorites all. They have a unique dynamism to their work that stands out from the pack, They can tell a story sequentially and they can do it in a timely manner. They have the "it factor". Doesnt mean you have to like them. No artist on the planet is universally appreciated. As for me, I come across undiscovered talent on this level about once a decade.

He's great. Your inks bring him a million miles further. The Arm hair is my favorite part. You created some subtle values in there. Looks like inkwash until I zoom in.
