Description
My paws pounded against the stone as my heart raced in my chest. Every few seconds I would send quick glances over my shoulder, watching for the telltale glint of a Sableye's eye in the shadows. My vision swam for a second and I stumbled, nearly tripping and falling flat on my muzzle. I looked at my partner, Sparx the Pikachu. He was just as out of breath as I was. He met my gaze for a split second, and I caught a flash of emotion. Suddenly, he stopped. He stared off into the distance, his eyes wide. I forced myself to stop and go over to him, trying not to dig my claws into the floor anxiously.

"What is it?" I asked, panting.
"Look... down there." He said, pointing towards a deep valley.

I turned my gaze in that direction to see what he was looking at. My eyes widened as well. There were several clusters of glowing golden lights illuminating the darkness.

"That's the stockade, isn't it? We've run so far..." He breathed.

I stared at the lights for longer than I meant to They seemed so out of place when the rest of this world was all dark stillness.

"Sparx...? Are you okay?" I asked gently, sitting and laying my tail on his shoulder comfortingly.
"I-It's just that..." He sniffed. "I almost can't believe everything that's been happening. It was so easy back at the guild, but then..."
"I know it's hard. We're being hunted now, we can't afford to stop in one place like this for long. The Sableye will catch up if we don't get moving soon."
"I-I know, I just... I can't, no, I won't, believe that Dusknoir is like this." He muttered.

I stiffened beside him, and the ruff of fur around my neck bristled.

"You won't believe he's a bad Pokemon? Why not?!" I cried.

He stayed silent, refusing to meet my eyes.

"Listen, Sparx! He just tried to kill us! Kill us! We'd be dead right now if it weren't for Grovyle! How could you still trust him at all?!" I shouted angrily.

He flinched at the volume of my voice. I pulled myself away from him and narrowed my eyes.

"Didn't he save us from Manectric, Tori? And he even helped us discover more Time Gears!" He suggested weakly.
"That doesn't mean ANYTHING! I..." I hadn't noticed it, but I had started shaking too. "I thought I'd lose you."

He whirled his head around to face me, blinking. "Tori, I-"
"I was scared, alright? I was scared, Sparx." I blurted out. "I trusted him too. I thought he was a good Pokemon. But I can't simply ignore what happened in there. You're my partner, and as terrible a partner as I am I can't stand the thought of losing you. Scratch that. You're not just my partner, you're my friend and I don't want you to die."

He wordlessly reached out and pulled me into a hug. A few stray tears managed to roll down my cheek.

"Look, I'm sorry for scaring you..." He started. "I have no intention of dying anytime soon."
I chuckled weakly. "Good. You'd better not."
"Even if I did die, I'm pretty sure I'd haunt you forever." He joked.
I sniffled, wiping my tears away with a paw. "Alright, you dork. Let's go before the Sableye catch us."

This wasn't supposed to have a story originally but WHOOOOOPS. It's probably bad but it was fun to do. It doesn't match the canon but I DON'T CARE! The picture itself is pretty enough to make up for it! Look at it compared to my OLD fanart of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. If you can find it.
