Description In case anyone thought it was hard to do something like this or just wanted to know how it's done. Do note that this is only one way to do this, not the only way nor necessarily the best way.

Note that I've shown you the steps on how to make a specific model for your own PRIVATE COLLECTION. I will emphasize that per the request/rules of the original modeler, Kakomiki, the model of "Alice the Gate Opener" or its edits may not be redistributed. Furthermore, this model of Alice may only be used by persons aged 18 years or older due to the rating on the model: R-18.

All I'm trying to do is build a child model of Fiore from Sailor Moon: Promise of the Rose.

That hair style - try looking for something usable from 3DCG parts; they're usually fairly low poly.

Typing 0.6 should make things smaller not larger, so what you're reporting doesn't make sense.

Thank you for this tutorial, it will help me a lot some time soon. n v n what i don't understand is, whenever i resize a model's head like this manually, the facials are messed up. How do you resize a model's head without doing this ? is there a special menu you use to select facials ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to PandAisuu [2013-10-27 10:15:08 +0000 UTC]

The resize function isn't perfect, facials can get messed up in the process. The only fix is to rebuild/repair the facials.

I've got a problem. I shrank everything, including my wings and tail, but they aren't attached to the model now!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 20:13:55 +0000 UTC]

Shrinking a model should not cause any disassociation between the model's bones and their weighted materials. It's possible that you've run out of memory for the procedure (but I'm just guessing). I take it from your comments that this is another model you're working on and not the one shown above, as such without being able to see the model itself, it's really impossible for me to know what is going on.

What you describe is really strange. Honestly, I've never heard of this happening before so I cannot really be of much assistance. Sorry.

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-22 20:38:11 +0000 UTC]

That's not your fault. No need to be sorry. It's just I always wind up with some kind of weird ass error that no one can figure out. Like after I made angel and devil edits, the two models feet/ankles twist weird and now poses get complicated. Or when I tried to add a groove bone to my model it made her legs and feet WORSE.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 20:48:59 +0000 UTC]

The feet/ankle problem is fixable. It's caused by a glitch when converting from PMD to PMX format. There's a tutorial here on DA somewhere which explains in detail how to solve this problem. You'll have to find it yourself as I don't have it bookmarked (since I don't have this problem). But fixing the problem will also fix the groove bone issue as well as the other problems that you noted.

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-22 21:02:40 +0000 UTC]

The models were already PMX thank you. Not my selfie, but BLEH. Now, I will screen shot what the newly shrunk model has started doing since I shrank it. I tend to test my models with motion and he's float bouncing, his feet act like he has no motherbone and fly to the side as he dances, and all the parts I had on him... The horns float and bob along with him in pieces, but the wings and tail stay put. .... Here. Take a look: sta.sh/0k0146ojp1x

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 21:25:14 +0000 UTC]

(1) Legs - fix the IK bone structure (or rebuild it).
(2) Wings/Tail - weight them to their control bones and/or make sure these bones are properly associated with the rest of the model.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-22 21:26:44 +0000 UTC]

And the horns? Did you not see what they were doing? And all these parts moved just fine until I shrank the model.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 22:12:31 +0000 UTC]

Just weight the horns to the head or whatever it's supposed to be attached to.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-22 22:19:06 +0000 UTC]

Well originally, all I had to do was drop them in, the stuck to the head, and then they moved perfectly. Now, if I knew how to weight the horns... And I fixed the wings. They move right. But for some reason the tail only half fixed

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 22:40:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's an odd one. As I said, I don't understand why shrinking the model would have such an impact. It's not logical and I've never had the issue myself.

As for weighting, that's actually quite easy to do and there are tutorials around DA and YT explaining how to do it in detail.

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-22 22:46:44 +0000 UTC]

Ok. The knee bones bend the way they should. And he STILL BOUNCE FLOATS AND STICKS HIS LEGS TO THE SIDE. How do I fix that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-22 23:38:46 +0000 UTC]

That problem is caused by a problem with the leg's IK bone data structure. I can't remember the exact fix, but there is a fix and you'll just have to find one of those tutorials that specifically addresses the problem as it is quite common with some model conversions.

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-23 01:14:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh... I find tutorials by looking up "mmd *insert problem* " No wonder I suck. But I use that already and that does NOT seem to be my issue.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-23 01:25:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, searching for things can be a real pain. It takes awhile to get the hang of it.

The other thing that could be the problem with the legs that can cause that problem are:

(1) Faulty IK data structure (but we've mention that already)

(2) The bones are labeled incorrectly on the Japanese side

(3) Issues with the axis orientation of the bones <-- this one would be really hard to fix - best to delete them and redo them from scratch (a real big hassle)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AskOrlenaLouisiana In reply to Trackdancer [2013-10-23 01:36:49 +0000 UTC]

It's gotta be 3. But what's axis orientation mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to AskOrlenaLouisiana [2013-10-23 01:50:12 +0000 UTC]

The axis orientation of the individual bones relative to the 3D world. If these are improperly orientated, then basically the model derp like a spaz. The problem is that it needs to fix in a 3D modeling program (unless there's a way to do it the PMDe that we don't know about).
