Description
In case for whatever reason you're crazy enough to want to try doing something like this. BTW, to avoid having issues like these in the first place, you might want to read this tutorial also: fav.me/d6hqsuqChibiDOS D/L: fav.me/d69nkxs
Errata
In panel 4 ChibiDOS says that there are only 350 physics left. That's a typo, the real number is lower than that.

That is because models with 5 different models worth of physics is trash.
Honestly, most aren't worth fixing due to the amount of time it takes to clean them up. But, this tutorial outlines the method required if you are inclined.
Yeah, it's about as much fun as having a root canal...

Well luckily i found the problem with my model. It was the glasses i downloaded for her of all things! I went to each bit trying to find where i went wrong and as soon as i added in the glasses BOOM the miku hair, one pony tail, one rin hair, a princess dress, some skirt, ect all from one pair of glasses! Im slowly going through all the models that had the glasses and remaking them from scratch

wow, this helped me a lot with a model i downloaded recently, it didn't move at all, then i opened it on the pmx editor and wow, 4 sets of physics, of different height models too, lots of useless bones, also physics hanging from the joints from non existent bones, hundred of them... and i was like "what the hell is this thing", so i went and started deleting physics, bones, joints, in the end that belarus edited model could dance properly, although i should rearrange some bones, her torso doesn't look connected when she moves the hips.

There are, unfortunately, some really badly made edits out there.

Since you've used a double negative in your last statement, I'll concur.

Double negatives only apply if they are in the same sentence.

thank you so much for this.
my models almost as bad as this one. and it really helped.
sadly though after i followed the steps. some of the physics i need fell.
so i have more work.

Once you get the hang of it, and also learn to take preventative steps, it gets easier.

Editing physics is a .... I'll prefer a root canal .... it's the #1 reason why I don't download DA edits anymore.

I know how you feel. It really is "something else" to see something that you worked on hard doing things the way you want to inside MMD.

Can you help me? I have a skirt that has physics for body parts (that aren't there, since it's only the skirt) but it won't let me delete them without crashing MMD. Why can't I get rid of them?

I should add that, yes, I deleted the joints, too. And it still crashed.

Trackdancer In reply to SahKeyLuffsYew83 [2013-08-15 03:04:05 +0000 UTC]
When you reply to your own message it doesn't appear in my inbox so ignore my last post. I have a rough idea why this would be the case. Physics and joints have inter-connected. You're deleting the physics and the joints that are logical, but there is still an element on what is left that has a residual relationship to "something" that was deleted.
The easiest way to solve this is to isolated the skirts materials and save it as an .x file. This will completely clean out all the junk. Then load the .x file model separately and either manually or using the skirt plug-in, rebuild the skirt's bone and physics structure.
The hard way is to delete all the obvious junk and then try and find the artifact(s) that are still present that's causing the crash. Most probably this, or these, are joints. It's possible the model has double stacked joints which you can't see but are listed in the joint tables and you basically have to identify them to eliminate.

The joints was the problem haha
Offtopic, how do you apply an MME effect in PMDe, like how to apply mirror.fx onto a model permanently?
π: 0 β©: 1
Trackdancer In reply to BlakeJX [2013-08-12 16:22:44 +0000 UTC]
The trick I found to auto-load an effect is to change the model's filename: Β miku [effect.fx].pmd will automatically load the effect with the model, but the effect files need to be in the same folder.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
BlakeJX In reply to Trackdancer [2013-08-12 16:32:08 +0000 UTC]
That method can't specify which materials to apply the effect on though

Trackdancer In reply to BlakeJX [2013-08-12 16:39:41 +0000 UTC]
Nope, still looking into how that's done.

BlakeJX In reply to Trackdancer [2013-11-06 12:38:43 +0000 UTC]
Ah, here we go, this the comment I've been hunting down. I found out how to apply a material onto a model or x file without having to re-apply it everytime.
It's in another language, but the pictures are clear enough to understand.
Works for both model and accessory files, the key is the file name before the file extension of .emd should be the same as the model or x file.
You don't actually have to put the shaders into the same folder, as it saves the whole path it was applied from, so long as you don't move the shader files, it should work.

Hmmm ... I use EMD files to store shading for my models, just didn't know this little trick. Thanks for this!

BlakeJX In reply to Trackdancer [2013-11-06 16:48:44 +0000 UTC]
I still don't know other methods of making an EMD files.
I remember asking about this and you don't know how, so thought I might share it since I found out about it
π: 0 β©: 1
Trackdancer In reply to BlakeJX [2013-11-06 21:42:13 +0000 UTC]
You can only make EMD files via the MME editor right? I don't believe there's any other way.
The original question was how to auto-load effects, but this method is even better as it includes specific settings for materials and you can use multiple effects.

They really chose to do that many physics on the skirt? It makes me wonder how vertices didn't become a limitation..
